Lady Blazers have a strong chance in the Final Four

The College of Saint Benilde quickly subdued San Beda University, 17-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-22, to cling to the Final Four berth in the NCAA Season 95 women's volleyball tournament yesterday at The Arena at San Juan City.

Rookie Gayle Pascual scored 20 points from 16 attacks and 4 blocks.

Diane Ventura joined the club with 14 hits for the Lady Blazers, which secured the top spot in the standings to hold a clean 6-0 mark.

“There are times when we're relaxing, complacent in the game. But we were chasing the score one by one. Coach (Jerry Yee) just told us to push, to stop, ”said playmaker Jewel Lai.

Chelsea Umali had 4 blocks, 4 aces, and 3 attacks, while Mycah Go had nine points and Jade Gentapa had seven.

Hit the battle where the Lady Blazers barely managed to attack (46-43) and aces (7-5).

Although it posted a 13-8 advantage in the blocking department, it stunned St. Benilde has 31 errors he has made throughout the game.

"San Beda is really one of our counterparts so we really studied their moves," Lai added.

San Beda suffered a second straight defeat to fall to a 3-2 mark.

Wing spikers Cesca Racraquin and Nieza Viray each recorded 13 hits, while Jiezela Viray made 10 markers and 13 digs for the Lady Red Spikers.

In the second game, the Jose Rizal University Lady Bombers defeated the Emilio Aguinaldo College Lady Generals, 25-22, 25-17, 25-19, to keep them alive in the Final Four with a 2-4 lead.

Dolly Grace Verzosa, Sydney Niegos and Mary May Ruiz each registered a combined 36 points on the Lady Bombers.

The Lady Generals have 0-6 cards and are likely to compete in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Letran Lady Knights will battle the Lyceum Lady Pirates at 12 noon.
