Defending Arellano University defeated Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 25-14, 26-28, 25-19, 25-16, to reach the Final Four slot yesterday at the NCAA Season 95 women's volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
Season MVP candidate Regine Anne Arocha returned after racking up 15 attacks, three aces, and a block to lead the Lady Chiefs to advance to second place with a 6-1 mark.
Reigning MVP Necole Ebuen provided solid support for 13 markers as well as Carla Donato who scored 12 points including four in Arellano's seven blocks.
This is a good reserve for Arellano who broke the record after suffering a first-degree failure at the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta last week.
Despite the win, Lady Chiefs mentor Arellano head coach Obet Javier was unhappy with his young play due to the 29 errors he made.
Sophomore Chamberlaine Cuñada led the Lady Knights with 16 points.
However, that was not enough and Letran rolled to the 3-3 mark and fell to No. 5 spots.
In the men's division, Arellano also beat Letran, 25-22, 25-12, 25-17, to also cling to the prospect of a semis slot.
Jesrael Liberato led by 18 points on 14 attacks, three blocks and an ace while Christian Segovia added 12 hits for the Chiefs to go up 5-2.
