These are Atleti's summer additions, the pricey Joao Felix, midfielder Marcos Llorente, Mario Hermoso, Felipe and Kieran Trippier. Though Diego Simeone is satisfied with his squad, the Argentine feels he is still missing an attacker. And he believes Valencia's Rodrigo Moreno has all the necessary attributes he desires and so are preparing to get Rodrigo in the Winter transfer window. This comes in the wake of failed attempts to land the attacker in the off-season.
Valencia owner Peter Lim and Atletico CEO Gil Marin, with super-agent Jorge Mendes acting as intermediary, agreed upon a deal that would see Rodrigo join the Spanish capital club for €60 million (£54m/$66m).
But Angel Correa was not offloaded by Atleti and that was part of the deal and since that failed to happen, Rodrigo had to stay on in Valencia. He had already started saying his goodbyes to his teammates.
