Three-division champion Johnriel Casimero is ready for the fight and revealed his upcoming fight against Cesar Ramirez on August 24 at the Fil Oil Flying V Arena in San Juan in the capital.
Casimero defends his interim World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight title.
“I'm very ready. Ramirez is strong and we are not confident, ”said Casimero, who wishes he could tie all the titles in the bantamweight division.
The 30 Ormoc City residents say they have time and want to bring down all the good things in his weight.
Mexican Ramirez had 18-3, 11 knockouts, and in his last fight, he overthrew Eddy Valencia by unanimous decision.
Casimero's victory over Ramirez will give him the right to compete with regular WBO champion Zolani Tete as a mandatory challenger.
“My real target for this season, Teter. So I prepared well, ”Casimero told Edri Aznar of Sun.Star-Cebu.
Tete is back-out in the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) tournament bantamweight semifinals where he will face Filipino star Nonito Donaire Jr.
This was after gaining weight during his training. As a result, Casimero has a chance to contend for the interim title against Ricardo Franco whom he knocked out in the 12th round on April 20, 2019.
Casimero, who has a 27-4, 18 Knockouts record, is training under Nonoy Neri.
His rehearsal began in Los Angeles, California this month with Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.
He is currently training in Davao City at the MP Boxing Gym. (EKA, JBM)
