The Afcon third place match held today and it was the third minute strike by the tournament leading scorer Odion Ighalo that prove to be the decisive goal in the encounter between the Nigeria super eagles and Tunisia.
Nigeria came into the match after being shocked by a 95th minute goal by mahrez in their semifinal game few nights ago to seal the victory for the Algerians 2-1. Tunisia on the other hand suffered a extra time own goal as there lost to tough Senegal side.
The third place game was on a low pace, with Nigeria being the better side at the end. Both side were definitely weighed down by fatigue and it telled on the way they play loosing the ball easily.
Few chances were created though Nigeria looked more threatening on the attack.
Ighalo, the tournament's top scorer with five goals, was the quickest to react to a loose ball in front of the Tunisia goal , he tapped in after keeper Moez Ben Cherifia deflected the ball off his own defender Yassine Meriah.
Tunisia were lucky that their goal keeper was there to just touch out Samuel Chukwueze second half curled shot and a fine save to keep out Samuel Kalu's free-kick in injury time.
The final will be on Friday when senegal face Algeria to battle for who becomes the African champions.
