Japan thrashed Pakistan with a score of 4-0 in their second match at the men's soccer branch of the 2018 Asian Games. In other matches, Thailand were held by Bangladesh 1-1.
Japan is still too strong for Pakistan in the Group D match at Wibawa Mukti Stadium, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, Thursday (08/16/2018) afternoon. Japan won four goals without reply via Yuto Iwasaki (second minute and 35), Reo Hatate (minute 9), and Daizen Maeda (10 minutes).
This is Japan's second victory in the 2018 Asian Games group stage. They previously defeated Nepal 1-0.
Thanks to these two victories, Japan is certain to qualify for the last 16. They now lead the Group D standings with six points, three points ahead of Vietnam in second place.
From Group B, Thailand failed to overcome the resistance of Bangladesh in Pakansari Stadium, Bogor. Thailand even fell behind by Mahbubur Rahman's goal in the 52nd minute before leveling the score through Supachai Chaided in the 80th minute.
In the two games at the 2018 Asian Games, Thailand has not even won. They previously drew 1-1 with Qatar in the first game.
Thailand now occupies the second position in the Group B standings with two points. They are under Uzbekistan who have three points.
In another match held at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency, the United Arab Emirates crushed Timor Leste 4-1 in Group C. The UAE won thanks to goals from Shaheen Aldarmki, Salem Alsharji and Zayed Alameri (two goals). An East Timorese entertainment goal was made by Rufino Walter Gama.
The UAE is now in second place in the Group C standings with three points, behind China which also has the same points. Syria, which also has three points, is third, followed by Timor Leste with zero points.
