I just posted about my idea of a new price ramp coming based on my analysis of recent floor price movement. But what a lot of people are missing is that the last price ramp isn't over yet.
Many people I speak to about Spinterlands believe that the price ramp happened before August and has more or less wrapped up. So what I want to do is take a minute and look through a few recent purchases I've made in the past 2 weeks and compare the current price to where they were then.
For a nice neat number, let's look at 5 cards I will choose by scrolling through my spreadsheet and blindly touching the screen and seeing what I land on.
So let's start out with a card many people have decided is a favorite.
#1 Lobstradamus:
Purchased August 11th
1 x Gold Foil @$140.50
42 x Regular @$14.90 = $625.80
Today August 22nd
1 x Gold Foil $400 = 185% increase
42 x Regular $45 = $1890 = 202% increase
@2 Mushroom Seer
This one is a little weird because I bought out two levels of the floor on the same day and again I bought gold and regular.
Purchased August 12th
1 x Gold Foil @73.88
17 x Regular @7.50 = $127.50
7 x Regular @15.50 = $108.5
Today August 22nd
1 x Gold Foil $195 = 164% increase
17 x Regular $24 = $408 = 306% increase
7 x Regular $24 = $168 = 54% (paltry) increase
#3 Highland Archer
Good, a less popular card bought just 7 days ago.
Purchased August 14th
7 x Gold Foil @$13.95 = $97.65
Today August 22nd
7 x Gold Foil $35 = $245 = 151% increase in 7 days
#4 Spineback Wolf (Beta)
An old beta gold card bought just 6 days ago. Let's take a look.
Purchased August 15th
4 Gold Foil @$23.60 = $94.40
Today August 22nd
4 x Gold Foil $37 = $148 = 57% increase in 6 days
#5 Frost Giant (Alpha)
Let's look at an Alpha legendary from just 4 days ago to finish off. These dont move usually.
Purchased August 17th
1 x regular @$287
Today August 22nd
1 x Regular $385 = 34% increase in 4 days
Wow. I knew things had been going up but honestly this is the first time I've sat down and done any math. Could you imagine if ever single stock you bought made these types of gains??!
Now I realize that these gains have made cards way more expensive and hard to buy for many people. But I wrote this to point out simply that those sitting on the sidelines because you thought all the gains were made before August are sitting out at the wrong time. I personally don't believe its done either. It will probably slow but usually prices don't go from across the board 100+% moves in a week to completely dead. I expect at least another 50%.
With that said, I'm largely done buying for now. I'm not rich and as you can see, I haven't been shy about buying. At a certain point I have to say enough is enough. I'll still be picking up some stuff with my rental income but for now any outside funds will stay outside as I save up for Chaos Legion 😍
What about you? Have you been buying the ramp? Selling into strength? Sitting this out?
What do you think the next month will bring?
great read. makes me rethink (and regret) selling cards
Nothing wrong with taking a profit. The last card I sold was a Kralus at$20 when it jumped from $12. I thought someone bought the floor and inventory would fill back in and I'd be able to buy it again for like $15. That never happened and I realized right then that I'd only be buying from then on. That no backfill on price is happening again but even with basic cards now. I'm bracing for another run.
Amazing article on the Splinterlands price movement.
Thanks! This article surprised even me. I knew there was movement but not how much there was in such a short time.
Is there any card, even one, that has not risen in value, lol?
I almost want to make that my next post. Find the one card that got no love lol
