Celebratory Shenanigans

in #ssglife5 years ago

A few days ago, I posted about it being my 17th wedding anniversary. Catch up HERE.

Well, here is what we got up to on the actual day.

First there were flowers. 😍 So many types! The arrangement had gerberas, dahlias, hydrangeas, roses, some berries and an assortment of other blooms. I love a big bouquet of mixed blooms.

Then we exchanged cards. It appears great minds think alike....🤣😂🤣

In the evening we headed to Seattle’s Pike Place Market.

The stalls and shops were mostly closed by this time, but I love exploring the market while it is quiet. During the day it is wall to wall people. At night you see the details of the place that get overlooked during the hustle and bustle of the day.

A unique streetlight and mural that I had never noticed before.

We also had the opportunity to soak up sunset views looking from Pike Place Market towards Puget Sound.

Sunset, Great Wheel and peekaboo views.

One level down from the market stalls is Seattle’s most disgusting attraction. The GUM WALL.

Sometime in the 1990’s people began sticking gum on these walls outside of the Market Theater. Gum accumulated here for TWENTY years! Then in 2015, every piece was removed in a massive cleaning effort. As you can see, it has taken just four years for gum to completely cover the walls again. 🤢 🤮

After that appetizing view, it was time for dinner. 🤣😂

Outside and inside.

Our meal was at an Italian spot called Il Bistro. The restaurant is located beneath Pike Place Market (just around the corner from the gum wall) and has been open for nearly 40 years. The ambiance was cozy and candlelit and our food was delicious.

We shared some delicious grilled Tuscan bread, that I washed down with a tasty montepulciano d’abruzzo.🍷 Next was a yummy cesare’ and rigatoni bolognese for me and steak for my husband. We finished things off with a flourless chocolate espresso torte with raspberry sauce and sweet mascarpone. 🤤

But there was STILL MORE!

After dinner we walked over to the Moore Theater for the 10pm showing of How Did This Get Made - LIVE.. First off, the Moore Theater has been a Seattle institution since its opening in 1907. Secondly, How Did This Get Made is a podcast starring comedians Paul Scheer, his wife June Diane Raphael and Jason Mantzoukas. During the podcast and live show the comedians (plus a special guest) make fun of a movie the audience is asked to watch beforehand.

Inside the Moore.

Our movie was The Visitor

From the Google:

An ancient intergalactic warrior arrives on Earth to put a stop to a demonic child's plot to reproduce Satan's next generation of evil.

OH YEAH! It was TERRIBLE!

The night however, was hilarious.

Scheer and Mantzoukas are best known for appearing together on a show called The League. The special guest for our show was Rob Huebel, another League alumni. The banter between all fours hosts had me crying with laughter, there were several opportunities for audience participation.

Overall, the whole thing is a little hard to describe. However, it was awesome and such a fun way to spend the evening. Wrapping up year 17 with laughter was excellent!

I love that light fixture, I think there is more than one. Looks like a lovely evening, here's to another 17!

Have you seen it before?!!! I feel like I saw so much random stuff that night at the market. Like there is a full on convenience store just a bit behind the fish throwing part. Who knew? It made me want to do a market tour. Or maybe stay in that hotel that is right in the market so I can soak up a full day of the place.

Wow what an full of fun day of celebrations for your 17th wedding anniversary!!! Thank you for sharing this milestone with us, sweet @dfinney!!! Wishing you many, many years of blissful life together! You are both blessed to have each other! 😍🥰😘🌷💐🌹🌺
