Impact of bribery and corruption on Nigerians..

in #stach7 years ago

People view the word bribery and corruption as a normal slang in the country. They hardly assess the implication on human development.

The greatest impact is that it has perpetrated poverty and created a very big gap between the have and the have not. It has portrayed the country in a very bad posture to the outside world and hence people are not very comfortable dealing with any Nigerian.

It has dented our image and integrity and cast the posture of criminals on us. We have lost our pride. It has lead to sudden death when vehicles are involved in accidents because of bad roads, erosion. Some buildings built with imported or locally made substandard materials collapsed and killed thousands of people.

Many were burnt to ashes because of adulterated fuel and kerosene. Many have died because of lack drugs, and very poor source of drinking water. Millions of youth are unemployed and have no future to hope on. There is proliferation of churches that have diverted from spiritual upliftment to miracle and prosperity and causing confusion in families because of false prophesy and extorting money from unsuspected miracle seekers.

Many private schools sprout up in coarse environment and untrained teachers thereby destroying the future of young generations and lowering the standard of education. Our money is diverted to foreign countries enriching such countries & impoverishing Nigeria. People's lives and property are insecure, human rights violated without resource to justice & equity, moral decadents is the order of the day.

Public sector and economy are diverted to private purse, no payment of salaries to civil servants and allowances to pentioners as a result many of them died in agony and shame. No drugs in the hospitals, Nigeria airways grounded, government industries privatized to people in power living the country porous, standard of living become very high that many are dying of hunger.

High fuel price, student unrest, nefarious activities in colleges and universities, lawlessness, disorder, judiciary indulge in corrupt practices, Human rights infringed upon, frustration, stress, destruction of natural endowment, hopelessness and many young mad men and young sex workers ravaged havoc on the country.

This scenario is horrible. Who will ever want to live in such a country? No wonder many would want to leave the country for other organized, bribe and corruption free countries. Why must they want to leave? Is abandoning the country suppose to be the way out? Is Nigeria not our country? If we all leave Nigeria for other countries, what will become of Nigeria? No, I do not share the idea of abandoning the country, whatever it is; I had rather be a slave in my country than abandoning it to become a slave in another country.
