MY TWISTED FANTASY

It is the city of dreams, the commercial capital of Nigeria. This is Lagos, I was greeted by the three statues. We have been mesmerized back home watching Nollywood how fast and easy the boy from village hustles his way up the social ladder in Lagos.

The passenger bus stopped at Oshodi with a laud call by the conductor “Laaaast Bus-stop”. Everyone was leaving the bus and I followed. I was terrified by the crowd it was like all the 183 million Nigerians just moved here or something, I nearly took to my heels.
To my right a man just snatched a lady’s bag. A Bus driver trying to escape the notorious LASTMA, swerved so much and so fast that the conductor almost fell off. The notorious neighbor that will always switch on his generator by 11:00 pm. The coalition of sweats and body odour in the bus ride back home from Obalende. I never understood the severity of living in Lagos through the TV screen.

I was fast loosing body weight due to limited quality sleep hours. As I relish my previous life and times in Ibadan -it dawned on me how twisted my fantasy about Lagos was.

Sort:

Come back to Ibadan already.

Monday is it.
