Star Trek Section 31

in #startrek7 days ago (edited)

This is like in Star Trek Deep Space Nine, I've been thinking about where they have Section 31 I think it's called, the secret force that acts outside the law. I think of it largely as a question of taking responsibility.. Section 31 claimed to be protecting the federation from threats... but the question then becomes what if they themselves become a threat? what gives them the authority to act outside the law? who do they answer to?
I am mainly saying this... proposing, as a philosophical anarchist, that a person has a right to fend for themselves and choose who their enemies are... and if their society is in crisis they don't have to rely on some outside standard of morality to tell them they can or cannot act to defend some principle they hold within... but then of course you'll say 'what if they're just a crazy person'.... which of course is a fair question
you should try to take responsibility for your actions and live by your own standards
but then I also find myself promoting memes and things of the CEO killer because I want to stoke the tide of energy he's started, because I think we need that momentum to fight what Trump is bringing down on us. It's not an exact science, living through the rise of fascism. More likely than not, it's going to get messy and violent regardless of what we do.
