I'll start my blog post series about startups, most of these will be startups i interviewed or i've done my research on them and even some we invested. The goal of this series will be to spread the word about new startups that are developing in the world and help them grow. I live, work and interview startups from Indonesia so most of the startups i'll show will be from Southeast Asia.
What is Qontak?
Qontak started as a directory of people. You can find people and get their professional e-mail and sometimes phone and contact them. After a lot of requests from users they decided to also add a CRM functionality, so that people can easily use the contacts they got to send than an e-mail through the platform. Unlocked contacts can be exported.
How does it work?
To be able to register you need to link your gmail or outlook account. You need to have a professional email. So for example an e-mail with @gmail will not work. You'll need an e-mail for example like "[email protected]"
By linking your account to Qontak you will allow Qontak to share your contacts to the whole network. In exchange Qontak will give you access to all the contacts in the network and you'll be rewarded some contact unlocks per month.
Contacts are curated and verified so they normally take a while to be added to the network.
What are unlocks?
Every time you want to see the email and/or phone number of a contact you will require to use an unlock.
How to get unlocks?
When you register for the first time you have a number of unlocks. (i think it's 15)
You can either buy unlocks. The pricing will vary based on how many you want to buy. You can contact Qontak to get a quote and request specific type of contacts.
Every month new unlocks are given for free.
If you add new contacts or companies you'll be rewarded some unlocks.
What can the CRM do?
The CRM is customizable. You can have your custom Deal flow or if you're trying to hire you could change the flow.
So for sales people you can than have New lead > Qualified leads etc...
What do i get access when i register?
You will get a some free unlocks after registering. You will be able to see people's name and which company they are working for. You can see companies and employees registered in the network.
You get access to the CRM to send emails to the contacts you unlocked.
Can i remove some contacts from the network?
Contact support at [email protected] for that matter, there should be no problem as long as it's your e-mail.
Use case
There's many ways you could use Qontak.
- Get contacts from quite high position people and contact them. There's some emails from VC people, so if you're a startup who's looking for funding, you can find those important people fast.
- Hijack people from other companies. It's a way to find easily and hire successful people.
- Find people to sell your products. With the help of the CRM everything becomes easier.
- Find people that would be relevant to an event that you will organize and then e-mail them.
- Find experts you could ask for questions.
Are there other services?
For companies who don't want to do the job manually of unlocking contacts and e-mail them, they can also just contact Qontak
at [email protected] and request a quote to mass email X contacts. Qontak will take care of all the work.
They also have multi-language English and Indonesian.

Compared to other CRM's out there Qontak is great and cheaper.
