Good morning Steemians! There have been many reviews of the individual books in the Aftermath Trilogy by Chuck Wendig. But, there are not many in the way of an evaluation of the whole book Trilogy.

Without spoiling the books for those who have not read them, I will do my best to give my thoughts on the books.

The series begins on the planet Akiva shortly after the destruction of the second Death Star. And with that we begin to see efforts of the Empire to regroup surrounding the planet. And through these beginnings we learn of the main characters in the book: Norra Wexely, "Snap" Wexely, Sinjir Venus, and Jas Emari. Although the story moves around the Star Wars Universe, the story revolves around these four characters. This story is about family and the relationships around family. And the first book provides a good background for the characters. Their meeting up revolves around the Empire on Akiva and various sequence of events between the Rebels and Empire.
Rae Sloane is the main character on the side of the Empire. And we she her character evolve through out the trilogy with the ever changing events with the Empire.

As we head into the next book, Life Debt, we see how this conglomerate of individuals grow together as a family. The story continues to twist and turn through the Star Wars universe. We see planets like Jakku introduced as well as a reintroduction of Chewbacca's homeworld of Kashyyyk. Through the events of this second book you see how the bonds strengthen between the main characters. And we see how the Empire is evolving from events in the first book as well as the ones unfolding in the second. It was a very good page turner and some of the twist and turns in the book leave you scratching your head wanting more.

As we move into the third book, Empires End, there is the sequence of events leading to a major conflict between the early New Republic and the Empire. Rae Sloane learns of events leading the Empire to where it is now. And we see the continued family bonds of Norra, Snap, Sinjir, and Jas strengthened further through events that have them separate and come together. This book also brings in the planet of Jakku into more focus and learn of its significance in the Star Wars cannon. And, although the Emperor has been dead the entire trilogy, his plans persist and move in a way that form the seeds of the eventual First Order.
I give this Trilogy a major thumbs up!

Some critics did not like the first book and then gave good reviews of the second and last book. What I think these critics miss out on is the fact that the first book should not be seen as a standalone book. It should bee seen as Act I in a larger story. When you change your perspective and view the book that way I think the importance of the book grows. And is the reason why I give the series a major 👍👍. If you read any of the three books without the other then you miss out on development of the larger story and its characters. Therefore, if you are new to reading this trilogy I highly urge you to view each as three separate acts of one story.
I do recommend you read these books if you have the chance. I found them very entertaining and a Trilogy that should have a firm place in Star Wars cannon. I did my best to keep this review spoiler free so that you can enjoy the books on your own. If you would like a spoiler filled review, please let me know.
