#3 Our third spot for the week presents a Lincoln sculpture by @kathleenscarboro.

Done for the state of Illinois, Kathleen takes us through the process step by step in the land of Lincoln.

Completing the story with photographs that bring us from creation to installation, the work ends with a quote including the following excerpt:

"A house divided against itself cannot stand...

I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free...Either the opponents of slavery, will arrest the further spread of it, and place it where the public mind shall rest in the belief that it is in the course of ultimate extinction; or its advocates will push it forward..."

#2 Our second spot goes to this great conceptual piece for gaming done by @berien, entitled Nacridan's "Underwoods' Horror".

With nice color harmony, action, and compositional sense of doom, the dark pallet (low key) finishes the objective. In line with our pursuit of great story pieces, we hope berien stays inspired to create more after a 4-year layoff.

#1 Our top spot goes to @mister-omortson for this beautiful painting and its accompanying story.

A must read to fully appreciate the entirety of this submission, "Iron tin, bottle of oil... and Michael Jackson" brought in 15.40 steem and positions high on the #stateofthearts feed. The richness in the colors, light properties of clarity of the bottle, and reflective aspects of the tin all work nicely.

Our congratulations go out to all the artists for providing us with a week full of variety from photography to sculpture, and large doses of creativity and entertainment.

Also, FYI be aware of where things stand with the March Art Madness call for entries.

true works of art, they have left me speechless!

Wow. It,s first time I won something!

Hard to believe, @mister-omortson.

Hopefully not the last. Looks like you're well on your way to making steemit work for you on your site too. Thanks again for the entry and its fun story.

Brilliant artworks! I am happy to see more and more amazing artists starting to fulfil steemit community! And initiatives like this one...great job!

Thanks a lot :)
That was unexpected :)

👍 You deserved it berien!

We haven't seen a lot of conceptual art of this caliber and hope you send more to the feed in the future. Looking forward to it.

Absolutely stunning selections. I'm resonating with all three quite strongly. The second one hits home though as I sometimes can find myself trapped in a calamitous state so inhibiting - that work really seems to visualize that trapped mindframe. Great work @berien& the #stateofthearts team!

Thank for the compliment @spaceballon.

It's weird : most of the time I don't try to analyze my own work's meaning, and so your comment made me realize how I inconsciently depicted the mood in which I was drowning while I thought I was simply depicting a scene.

It's kind of a surprize to read your own work with a new mindset.
So : thanks for this too :)

Great thoughts and analysis @spaceballoon.

We agree with your assessment and love those dramatic and story aspects embedded into the work.
