The thing I love most about Florida is how easy it is to spend time outdoors and in nature. One of my favorite places to visit is Weeki Wachee.
Weeki Wachee Springs is gorgeous to float down on either a kayak or paddle board.
The river has a steady current, so it is easy to float along and relax and enjoy the scenery.
If you are a bit more of a daredevil (my husband is) there are trees along the way to climb and jump into the water.
If you are more like me, and like to be in the water, this is a great area to snorkel.
The water is crystal clear and you can see very deep.
There are many fish swimming around, and every time I have visited, I have seen at least 2 manatees!
*See my post about swimming with the manatees at Weeki Watchee https://steemit.com/statewars/@pinellaslisa/florida-manatee-state-wars-day-1-symbols
I would suggest for anyone who has the chance to visit here! This year I will be visiting some of the other Florida springs and look forward to it. Thank you for reading.
Super cool! :)
Thank you!
That looks like an amazing place to spend the afternoon and just soak in some sunlight and enjoy nature.
I had no idea about this treasure! I do love manatees!
It is great! If you ever have the chance you should come check it out!
Pretty place, there is no gators there?
Gator are rare here. The water is 74 degrees year round and many of the reptiles don't like that and with the clear water the gators prefer more marshy water to hide in. There is a part of the river many people swim in but it isn't crystal clear, at that part though I won't swim because there is more of a chance of gators and snakes.
Love these pictures! I've been to Weeki Wachee twice and couldn't get in because of the crowds!! The last time we missed it we drove to Hunter Springs (too crowded), Homosassa Springs, then on to Fanning Springs. I'll be posting about those sometime in the future. Definitely following you to read about more Florida outdoor adventures!
My husband and I found out you can reserve a launch time at Weeki Wachee so you aren't turned away! Usually first or last launch time is best to avoid the people. We like to stop a lot and snorkel so we usually do the last launch :) I look forward to seeing those posts! I haven't been to them yet!
Awesome that looks like a lot of fun. I'm surprised more people don't go tubing down it or it's not busier as awesome as it looks.
Does it get pretty busy in the Summer?
It does get super crowded at times, my husband and I try to do the last launch time and kind of kick back so people pass us, then we have more of our own space :)
O that's a great idea!
