As a long time journaler and stationery aficianado, I always get excited when I discover a new favourite pen or notepad or stationery tool. In this case it's a pen that I use to add colour to my journals - headers, underlines, short notes, and colour-ins.
The pen in question is the Papermate Flair. I had been on the search for a while for a decent felt-tip pen for colouring in my journal. On Amazon I'd stumbled across the Bic Intensity pens. The fine nib was a little too fine for my needs and the medium was tricky to get in Australia. I eventually ordered some from the US.
When they arrived they were great - nice quality pens with super intense colours. I was all excited for a day or two. They coloured well, but I found myself wanting to write with them and create bold colourful headers in my journal. For this, the nibs were just a touch too wide and very wet, causing them to bleed through. The bleed through could have just been the paper in my current journal, but it was annoying.
Because I'd bought them from Amazon, I'd started getting served ads for similar products. The Papermate Flair pens were one of these. They had the claim that they wouldn't bleed through the paper. Many of the reviewers supported this. They were available in Australia so I decided to give them a try.
Wow! The reviewers weren't wrong. These didn't bleed through, the nibs were great for both writing and colouring, and they just did what I needed them to do.
The Papermate Flair nib on the left and the Bic Intensity on the right. You can see that the Flair's nib is not quite as wide as the Intensity. The Flair is 0.7mm and the Intensity is 1.0mm. The Flair also has a clear plastic point guard to keep the felt nib together.
One of the best things with the Flair was the range of colours available. I ordered the Special Edition Candy Pop set of 24 pens and the colours rock. The Intensity's also have a range of colours, but I found them difficult to get here in Australia.

Do you have a favourite colouring pen?
Are you a fan of the medium nibs, or do you prefer a nice fine nib for detail?
Until next time,
@Sammie

I love these pens! My only issue with them is that the nibs tends to flatten out over a short time. I'm probably writing too hard!
Oh no! I haven't encountered that problem yet, but I do tend to write with the pen on an angle so I'm kind of writing more with the side of the nib. I wonder if that makes a difference?
It's probably my heavy-handed-ness!! :p
