Steemit Activity

in #stats7 years ago (edited)

Some people write, some people comment, some people upvote, some people downvote. Lets not forget about all the developers working in the background developing amazing apps for the platform. Whatever yardstick you use you are probably missing out on a key aspect of the platform but it can be useful to have some metrics to measure activity over time.

User Activity on Steemit

What exactly is an active user and what does growth in this mean for the Steemit Ecosystem?

Unique Authors

This is a metric I have not seen before and I think is probably the most important one for looking at level of activity. How many unique authors are posting or commenting each day?

It is useful to have a few other metrics to hand when looking at this author data.

Posts Per Day

Votes Per Day

The number of votes per day tells gives us an idea of the level of engagement on posts and comments. Of course we all know there are many bots voting but it is still useful to look at this metric.

Daily Account Creation

This is an extremely important metric but as several other users publish this data regularly I will not recreate it here. Check out @penguinpablo for daily reports with other key metrics and https://steemdata.com/charts for some interactive charts.

Steemit is gaining thousands of users each week, but a lot of these may take a wrong approach. They need guidance on how to succeed, i.e. not by spamming or copying content. If it's to get to millions we need to set the right expectations or it could get really messy

They also need to see stuff they are interested in to keep them here. I think apps that let you easily find and filter content you want will be really important.

Whats up with those two massive spikes on votes?

Good info though I wish I would have gotten in sooner but hey I am here now!

Looks like bots to me. Here is one post with thousands of votes in the comments

it also need to be more fairer based if a wale post somting its hot in seconds .

but tell me this how dose a phone or computer work under water how is a fucking whale on steemit . this shit is opening up opertunity for everyting even whales

This is really informative, keeping a track of how steem performs everyday

I am working on what is informative to look at, having another look we need the Steem price up there too. That is probably a big driver of how often people are posting.

hmmm, these show kinda flat levels the last month... although you gotta figure the summer to be a little flat anyways, right? votes on posts themselves have dipped lately (last graph). I'll check out @penguinpablo too, ty

That's exciting to see the number of unique authors climbing.

I hope it continues on the upward trend. There was a big boost at the end of June but it has been trending down a little since then.
