RE: Monthly payouts MEGA report, September 2016

in #stats8 years ago (edited)

Posting something on Steem does not "sap" anything. People also have to vote for it.

These posts are popular and add value to the platform IM(subjective)O.

Also the claim of hundreds of dollars daily is bizarre. Only one such post in the past week was rewarded more than $100 and most are under $20. Now those Daily Curie posts on the other hand...

Sort:

Guys.

Why not let the community decide through voting? If you don't like it just ignore it.

I like this kind of stuff and he is not the only one posting these kinds of break downs. I suspect it takes some significant work to put together even if they look very similar. I think it is a matter of personal preference as to whether you like facts and figures and think it is valuable or not.

Frankly I was puzzled before when @masteryoda said he was going to stop them. Let him do them and let those of us that like them vote on them.

We need to be careful not to scare new people off and this type of singling out of certain types of posts that should or should not be posted doesn't help.

The whole point of curation is to let the community decide.

As long as no fraud, plagiarism or other abuse is occurring it should be fine.

We all want what is best for Steemit but we have to accept that we won't always agree on what makes a good post.

In that case it is best to move on to something we do like.

Well said. If we want Steemit to grow we need to be open to different kinds of content and let the voters decide. As you say, "it is a matter of personal preference as to whether you like facts and figures". Some people are very into this sort of thing, others like art, original writing, news, politics, humor, strange stuff that happened in some far away place, etc. Let's be open to all.

Well said indeed, “manually” singling out a person or a type of posts is definitely wrong, I like those posts myself and enjoy sharing them. When I first started posting stats, there were barely any stats posted, now many authors are posting very interesting stats as well which is positive and constructive.

Asking me to post them on external websites is the pinnacle of wrongness, and against Steemit spirit of free thinking. So is trying to bully me out of posting them by flagging them unjustly.

I think it comes down to different ideas of what is "good". I like facts and figures but I also like more arty stuff too.

I find these breakdowns fascinating because they give an understanding of what is happening on Steemit and I'm one of these people who visualises numbers - I'm assuming you might be the same.

Not everyone perceives them that way or sees the value in them. I think partly it goes back to the way people are taught maths early on.

Anyway keep posting the breakdowns. You have my support (even though it isn't worth much) and I know that there are many others that like this kind of thing too.

It would be a shame to drive it off the site just because it isn't to everyone's taste.

Two of his pending payouts were over $100 before Ned downvoted. I am unsure about the Curie payouts myself, and have questioned where the money goes and asked for accounting of it. At the very least I know some of it is paid to people curating in the steemit.chat channel.

At least in this case there is complete transparency AFAIK. The rewards go into @masteryoda's pocket. Curie is anything but transparent, but that's off topic here, so best not to get too deeply into it.
