How do you Become a Stay at Home Mom?

in #stayathomemom7 years ago

As I'm becoming a new mom to our first baby, I keep thinking on what I'm going to do when he comes, am I going to keep working full time, go down to part time, or stay home with our bundle of joy. As I'm thinking long and hard about this, I feel like staying home is the best option for me and the baby.

But how in the heck can I still make money while I'm at home, I still want to help my husband bring in money but I also want to stay home with the baby. This is when my lovely husband would say, "Do some research." I got on the computer and started researching and you wouldn't believe how many blogs and websites came up!

There were a lot of good reads that I really enjoyed, The Penny Hoarder also had some good information on their blog about stay at home moms. There are so many different things you can do to be a stay at home mom and still make money. Virtual Assistant, start a blog, if your crafty you can make your own product, there are a lot of call centers that do stay at home, you can even get money right here on Steemit, the list goes on.

As I keep looking at different things I can do while I'm at home I'm getting more and more excited for our little guy to come in March. I also want to ask this question, is there any stay at home jobs that you've come across that interested you? If so drop them in the comments every little bit counts for someone that is trying to stay home. Hope this brighten your day, happy Steeming!

Being a SAHM (Stay at home mom) is such a rewarding and tiresome job! I wish we got paid for all we do. I have been a SAHM for 5 years now, albeit I'm thankful my husbands job is enough to be able to so, I know most folks don't get or have that luxury. My son started school this year so that opened up more doors, but I still have my 2 year old 24/7.
My best advice is to ultimately do what works best for you and your family.
I tried going back to the workplace after 2 years, and it ended up being worse for me and the family and posed a different kind of stress.
The job itself was fantastic, and truly my dream job, but my husband and I's schedules didn't work out, and paying for childcare was/is a joke!
I know everyone is different, but for me as a first time mom, I wanted to get every waking minute with my newborn. I wanted to be the ones to see him roll over, hold his head up, and tackle all of his first time milestones! To me, that meant way more than any job could offer.
The key I think in all of this is start slow. Dont try to bite off more than you can chew and do whatever makes you happy. Here I am 5 years later now, still a SAHM and every day is a new adventure! Keeping your mind busy is important, but so is rest. :)
I dont know if any of that was helpful, but I do know they are only little once. That time cant ever be made up, so I say make the most of every opportunity!
And congrats and your bundle of joy soon! Any questions feel free to ask! I look forward to following your journey!

Thanks so much for commenting! I totally agree, we ultimately need to make a choice that is going to benefit the whole family. Even though it's going to be tough as a SAHM, it will be so rewarding in the end. Thanks again for the advice it was very helpful! :)

Of course! 👍😊
