Round Two's Chapter Has Officially Closed!
This sequel is has now concluded and once more, thank you and congratulations to everyone that participated in this month's DuoDraw! I am super happy to see some recurring names and new names in the entries. Admittedly though, I was a little anxious at bringing back this contest what with the decline going on. One of the things I considered was significantly decreasing the prize pool but I remained adamant at keeping it consistent as I feel it was much more exciting and fun for everyone. So show your support for this contest to keep that prize pool at 10 SBD (or maybe more in the future)!
This round, I am very pleased with all 8 entries. Everyone has done a maddeningly wonderful job (pun intended) and I implore for anyone reading this post to upvote and show your support to the talented artists that are in this contest. Without any more delay, here are the entries!
Wonder Category
Alice in Wonderland: Wonder by @nanawawa
The references to the original story are everywhere in this piece. As this is the second time this user has entered, it is such a divergence from her usual style which I applaud for experimenting with. Having the key hole being set as a frame around the illustration is a nice way of cropping the image and putting the audience on the wonder side.
Alice in Wonderland by @drupi
The pose and overall feel of the drawing reminds me of one of the illustrations from the Looking Glass book. This is admittedly a pleasing and lovingly detailed work on the character. The way how the hair and fabric moves is lovely and dreamy.
Wonder Bonkers by @gordon92
Definitely one of the more louder entries. This is also one of the few entries really pushing the envelope on the theme and that kind of boldness is very much welcomed. A risky, energetic, and frankly very crowded drawing. I'm still amazed at how many companions this character has.
Small Size by @serarious
Fantastic recreation of the iconic "Eat Me" scene from the books and other interpretations of this story. Having the character turned away from our view adds to that sense of wonder to the audience. The lime green fireflies also makes me question of the situation. Is it wonder from awe or wonder in a sense of fear?
Wonder by @edenci
Great use of atmosphere and own additions to a familiar scene. The entry had put a tonne of effort in creating the mood through careful use of colour. The red monotone background really makes Alice's blue dress really jump out at the screen.
Madness Category
Alice in Madnessland by @crittercrats
Having seen this user's entry before, this is such a great use of different textures in a singular piece. Really like all the ideas and visual motifs presented here. The design of all the characters retained their original inspiration mixed with artistic liberty. The effort in this is great.
Madman's Conten[x]t by @gordon92
Great deal of pure expression in the entry. I think this is definitely a piece where the benefits of going traditional are really shown here. You can feel the energy of each and every stroke. The chaotic feel is really there and can feel quite overwhelming much like madness is.
The Queen by @nanawawa
The question: Can madness be ever seen as beautiful? I think this shown greatly in this entry. They say a picture can say a thousand words and in this piece, those words translate wonderfully into a story. The history of the character is shown in every artifact around her, making this a great piece of visual storytelling.
And Those Are This Month's Entries!
A big thanks to all the entries this month! It was a great pleasure to look at and read all of your entries. I am pleasantly happy to see all the different takes on a singular subject of inspiration, just shows how unique everyone's artistic eye. It is going to be a very difficult choice to pick one winner for each category so I wish everyone the best of wishes!
Thanks for sharing, everyone did an awesome job!
Thank you very much @hanbun. Good luck everybody.
This is nice, we will be anticipating. I wish I could support though.
Glad you think so, @tabithaa! There are many ways to support #DuoDraw. Participating in entries, upvoting, commenting and resteeming really helps as the payouts on all of DuoDraws posts help in keeping it going =D
