Hi guys, im back with another posts. Well , this is more like a post to remind myself about my mistakes and some of my thought process regarding this painting.
Actually I was having trouble choosing the background colour. The purple colour would certainly bring out more contrast. I , however, ended up with the black background.
Today's topic
Feedbacks !
Yeah , as you progress with your art. Feedbacks are very important. It helps you to learn about things that you omit throughout the process. Painting too much hours will cause eye strain and your brains might go numb. Thats why its important to take breaks and get back to your painting. Or , flipping your canvas, so that you can notice the mistakes you make. Having friends or family to help look at your painting will give you new insights. However, never be affected or discouraged by the feedbacks.
Don't just blindly take in feedbacks, you gonna need to think for yourself. Is this feedback valid ? or useful ? or is it constructive ? Ask that someone to offer help in overpaint if he or she could , because you will understand more regarding the mistake you make.
As you can see, I have this piece posted to an art community group . And yeah, tons of people were giving me lots of feedback. I also noticed some mistake in this piece . Mainly, those mistakes come from the boobs . Also I forgot some hightlight on the boob. So, boob operation failed XD
Anyways it was a fun piece to paint , because I kinda have her drawn in a different way. She is more to a mecha woman like this. A little bit touch of Evangelion concept . Ha ! Did you see that? xD
Technique
In drawing portraits, its important that you know what kind of lighting you use. There are several types. I am using the rim light for this. Rim lighting can create great contrast to your art but you have to make sure that your rim light is brighter than all the tones around your character. So that means the brightest tone on your face , your hair, and all the stuffs cannot beat the brightness of your rim light. But of course, there is some exception on the metals, because the material is different , the way they absorb light is also different .
Below, I am gonna show you how rim light will effect the look of the painting. Keep this in mind that, rim light will be on the highest value (brightest)
