It runs in the blood.
I was exposed to arts and architecture as far as I can remember, as it’s a common topic at home especially when most of my relatives are also in the same related field of architecture and arts. Knowledge on drawings, painting, music, writing, theater and films had been taught to me through my childhood, as we were actively involved in joining arts societies and communities during our past time.
Since we were little kids, my father, @abgmie had exposed us siblings with arts including comics, cartoons and sketching. He was a well known cartoonist in the 80s long before i was born. Art is contagious. Since KL Sketchnation, my brother @harythilmy and my sister Atilya Putri had also started sketching and actively involve in sketchwalks and events.
A family trip to Sydney.
When we visited Sydney end of last year, we were hosted by a good friend to my dad, Uncle Sham, who is an architect that have been practicing architecture and resides in Sydney for more than 20 years. He owns a beautiful self-designed house in Lakemba, Sydney, and always love to host guests in his house.
Heres some images of his awesome cribs!
We spend the whole week there with a very warm hospitality, great foods and comfortable place to stay. So we decided to repay his kindness with what we do best. As fan of arts and architecture himself, we sure he is going to appreciate our gift.
Each of us drew his portraiture with all our own unique styles. :)
The drawings.
A quick simple caricature by my dad (@abgmie)
A poster silhouette drawing by my sister, Atilya Putri.
A cartooned version of Uncle Sham by my brother @harythilmy.
And a watercolour caricature by yours truly. :D
Behind the scenes.
Heres some process of the watercolour caricature process;
started with the simple sketch with pencil.
Applied some simple watercolour wash and then finishing it with Indian Ink.
