Few weeks back we were invited by RIUH! to be part of their monthly themed celebration of arts and culture. RIUH! (pronounced: ri-yoh; means: loud festive noises in Malay) is a creative platform that curate a variety of pop-up stores & food, creative workshops, showcases and live performances from the local and international art scene.
The theme for the month was RETRO as well as to celebrate the International Women's Day. There were so many vibrant pop-up stores involved and we were offered a booth too as a collaboration. So we open up our merchandise store and have our volunteers to help out! We have art cards, sketchbooks, tshirts, badges and stickers produced by our active members to be sold that weekends.
Our lovely miss Nadia helping out with our booth, have now became our 'mascot' as she became famous overnight. lol.
Some sketchbooks displayed.
The art cards for sale.
The initial idea was to just host a coffee art workshop like we did last time (you can read it in my previous post - here ). We have prepared our coffee painting kits and were given a space for us to conduct ongoing mini workshop for people to try out coffee paintings. People came in non-stop, eager and curious to try. :)
Some of our volunteers - @harythilmy, Nasran, Syafiq and few others came to help demonstrate and teach people to paint with coffee.
But this time we have a lil extra surprise for the ladies who went to the event. ;)
A special treat for the ladies!
Coined out by our KLSketchnation vice president, the portrait master @choiko82, we decided to open up free coffee portraits painting by both of us, and supported by RIUH!
So we put up signs. :)
Only few seconds after we announce some free portraits service...
...we were swarmed by the ladies. lol.
RIUH was so generous, they covered all our cost for us to provide the service. We have painted a total number of 43 portraits in just 6 hours! :)
Some works by @choiko82
..and my works. :)
It was definitely a great weekends but was a super tiring one. I managed to brush up my portraits skills and now i have more confident on live portrait sketching as i practiced to complete one sketch in just less than 15 mins. :)
