Matrim Cauthon, also simply known as 'Mat' is by far my all-time favorite fictional character ever created. He is one of the main characters of The Wheel of Time series written by Robert Jordan. Sadly, Jordan passed away in 2007 before he completed the books. The series was then given to Brandon Sanderson who were picked by Jordan's widow and editor to write the final book using Jordan's prepared notes and audio recordings. I think he did a great job. I couldn't make myself read the last book. I don't want it to end. T_T

Here is my take on Mat:

THE PROCESS:

Preliminary sketches. I'm sketching him in his early outfit in the story. A simple village boy.

Finding him the right body posture and pose. Trying to get him the right look of a mischievous boy he is, with that glint in his eyes and that sly grin on his face.

I put him in the much later outfit and a weapon that he gained through the adventures and journey he made. A black-hafted spear, a silver fox medallion, a wide-brimmed hat and a crumpled green coat.

And it goes all technical from this point onward.
