As the Muslims are about to celebrate the 1st of Syawal many Malaysians are preparing for their annual trip back to their village. In Malaysia it is common for the younger generation to seek their fortune and wealth in the city and their parents remains in the village.
So the roads would usually be jammed during this season as families usually travel back to their place of birth and visiting is common.
What Asians cannot separate is the stereotypical thinking that a successful person would have at least a car and the more expensive the car is, the more successful he is. So many car companies target this period to increase their marketing efforts as sales would usually be better. That is where I come in and get commissioned to do these jobs.
As people get more and more accustomed to the impact of visual art, cartoon becomes a very approachable medium to reach out to the masses.
So what I did was with some aid from software like photoshop, I can separate the elements and arrange the characters to get the composition that I want and insert the subject matter as the centre of focus.
Here is how I demonstrate singular compositing using photoshop and how layers can help position characters more effectively and save time and effort.
How different elements can come together and create a single composition.
- the backdrop
- the characters
- the subject matter
- the promotion
The end of the day, I got a very satisfied customer in Nissan (the car manufacturer) and to give a bit of icing on top of the cake, I have it done in a portrait size with a bit of rearranging.
Di indonesia 'annual trip back to their village' adalah mudik lebaran.
