Dubbed as "The Saint Tropez" of Tunisia, Yasmine Hammamet is the oldest touristic center in the country. The metamorphosis from quiet fishing village began in the 1920s with the arrival of the European fast set. I walked in the picturesque medina which was surrounded by thick walls and it makes the neighbourhood of this ancient city very interesting. This Medina was once a fortress.
Alley in the Hamammet Medina
Moving up the countless narrow alleys is like being in a labyrinth.
The area of the medina is quite huge that you could easily be lost and I felt like taking a step back in time.
I'm soaking up the atmosphere and at last manage to grasp a breath of fresh air. I travel north to a holiday resort of Port El Kantaoui. The resort’s centrepiece is surrounded by quays with contemporary boutiques, restaurants, souvenir shops and cafes.
The mix fruit juice was cooling, the atmosphere relaxing and the mediteranean ambiance was soothing.
It was a low tourist season and the place was half-deserted, as I enjoyed a stroll by the quays looking at luxury yachts of the Mediterranean jet setters.
Port El Kantaoui also been described as “Sidi Bou Said on water” and the feel of it’s peaceful ambience made for a truly romantic atmosphere.

It was definitely a memorable visit to the land of flaming bougainvilleas and all the beautiful faces that I drew at Marche Mediterraneen International du Tourisme in tunis.
