This method requires no special tools and takes literally 30 seconds to do. This shouldn't be the only method you use to vote, but it can be useful when you've only got a few minutes to spare throughout the day and you still want to be able to use your votes effectively.
The first step is to go to the 'trending' feed and start scrolling down. You want to scroll down until you start seeing posts between $10-$20.

The next step is to scroll all the way back up and then search (ctrl/cmd+f) for the term 'minutes'.

In the above example there are 7 hits. One of them had minutes in the title, but the other 6 detected which posts had gone up within the hour. This is the crux of the method. Because posts on steemit tend to be very momentum based (i.e. dog pile), there's low risk in voting for a post on the trending page which is still fairly new.
Keep searching the term to look through the rest until you find a post that seems interesting and upvoteworthy.

Et voila! That's really all there is to it. Now get out there and earn those curation rewards!
I upvote U
This is great advice for people to start earning curating rewards, but everyone also has to remember that you shouldn't just upvote/comment at certain times for the rewards. The whole point of Steemit is to encourage genuinely written, intelligent articles. It's not supposed to be just a train of people upvoting simply for the rewards.
That's definitely a fair point. That's why I mentioned that you should only use this method when you don't have the time to sift through new. Appreciate the response!
Yes I used this method, but my Steempower is too low to get curation rewards XD
Same here. Usually I'll get like .001 SP even if I get in on a $1k+ post early. The struggle is real. D:
Nice strategy, I think if a post is trending you are already a little late though but you can definitely find a couple of posts with untapped potential this way.
Yep, you're definitely not gonna be one of the first to get in. On the upside though, is that you won't accidentally vote on something good a couple minutes after it has gone up. The way the system works now, you'll get a linear penalty on your curation until 30 minutes has passed. So if you vote at 15 minutes you give 50% of the curation reward to the author. If you vote at 1 minute, you give ~97% of the reward.
Yes well that's also part of the strategy, I usually upvote around 10-15 mins if there are few voters to get my first row tickets. Of course for that the post should have a lot of potential.
I like to ride the 'new' queue and post in submissions I like too.
You are the Steemian we need, but not the one we deserve. :P
Lol
Nice method! :-)
Thanks! :D
Hey @murch great post! Yes, I couldn't agree more there should be a better way to get stuff in front of us. I just posted my new website introduction trying to help solve certain things like this. Take a look! good job :)
