I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm just still new to Steemit and don't know who to ask.
I'm compiling a list of my favorite video games and want to embed the trailers so people can easily click and see how beautiful and gripping these games are. I figured trailers would be a lot more effective than copyright-free stock images of random hands holding a Xbox controller. I will use the stock images if need be but was wondering if embedding the trailers would be copyright infringement.
I think you would be ok to embed the trailers as they are for promoting the games themselves, you are not altering them in any way, you are not using them to highlight some other competing product.
I would make sure to track down the official links and credit which ever account originally posted them.
If anyone has other thoughts/opinions/facts, please feel free to chime in.
When I post from a pro account on vimeo, I can control whether or not someone can embed elsewhere. I think if you are posting on youtube, you just don't care/seeking adsense clicks from whatever source.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to help out.
As far as I know embedding video is fine. That is basically a link to somebody else's content, just as you can share this post here and embed it in other social networks.
The content creator will still be getting the views for their video if it is just a simple embed.
Thank you!
Yeah, I was thinking about the creator still getting the views and hoping that would help. Thanks again!
I would suggest posting a link back to where you got the media from, then you'll be good, but I don't see anyone taking down posts or anything like that, so you're good.
Good question. Thank you.
I'll do that! And I'm planning on including links to sites where you can purchase the game so hopefully that helps. Thank you!
as far as i can tell it doesnt matter like facebook.
Thanks for the advice!
This is a great question!
