From what I read 1 steam power is traded in for 1 steem so its not $1 but perhaps I misunderstood as I was reading for the details?

If that was true, then this transaction would have been impossible:

I just took that 227.359 SBD and went to the market in my wallet, where I purchased 174.74 STEEM for it and powered it up.
