Yes, the potention of steem is big. However, one thing that worries me a lot is very slow pace of progress of steemit. If a new HF forks can be done only once in 14-16 month, this slugish progress can alow rivals to take over in just a few years.

That is a lot more than a new fork every 14-16 months.

I don't think so. HF19 we have since 20.06.2017.
And now HF20 is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 25, at 11:00am EST.
So 15 month and 5 days.
