The declaration of Steem's Independence

in #steem8 years ago

We have been brought to a point where it has become necessary to dissolve the bond between currency and institution. We are not required to declare the causes which impel us to push for the separation, but we will oblige. We hold these truths to be self-evident. We have been cyclically betrayed, lied to, stolen from, extorted from, taxed, monopolized, spied on, inspected, assessed, authorized, registered, deceived, and reformed.

We have been economically disarmed, disabled, held hostage, impoverished, enervated, exhausted, and enslaved. And then there was Steem. But we are in an age of appropriation, and nothing is immune. Today Steem is not only volatile in its value, but in its very essence. Steem is in the crucial stages of development. Its code can evolve in several directions. It’s under threat from those who don’t understand it; it’s under threat from those who do understand it, but fear it.The crusade to absorb Steem into the seams of the State has begun.

There is a conscious effort to co-opt. The goal is to swallow Steem, process it, integrate it, devolve it, and keep it stagnant in the gears of a failed operating system. Steem’s potential is being hijacked. They have their own idea of what they want Steem to be. They have their own plan for its potential, and they have an investment in that plan. But our consent is withdrawn and the power of our ideas is too strong.Do not underestimate DNA; nothing is born completely neutral. Follow the protocol: it has anarchistic implications. Steem is inherently anti-establishment, anti-system, and anti-state. Steem undermines governments and disrupts institutions because Steem is fundamentally humanitarian. There’s an elimination of 3rd party intrusion.

It’s purely peer-to-peer. The blockchain is free speech. It’s decentralized, voluntary, and non-aggressive. Steem is not supposed to work within our current mechanisms. Steem needs not entities of authority to acknowledge it, incorporate it, regulate it, and tax it. Steem does not pander to power structures, it undermines them.Steem is an animal of anonymity. . Privacy is the point. Steem is meant to function outside of regulatory systems. It is not a cog.Steem means to channel economic power directly through the individual. Steem is not intended to be integrated; it’s intended to be a ghost outside the machine.

The voices of the people who are working to preserve the purity of Steem’s ethos are being drowned out. But actions speak louder than words. Steem is utility. The cypherpunks are building anonymous systems. The crypto-anarchists are making institutions arbitrary. The internet is anarchy. And cryptocurrencies are the printless fingers of the internet.Steem is not just a currency, a commodity, or a convenience. Just like the internet gave information back to the people, Steem will give financial freedom back to the people. But that’s only the first step. There will be a shift in the structure of enterprise, in the way we interact, in the way we voice our opinions, and in the way we fuel our action. Steem will allow us to shape the world without having to ask for permission. We declare Steem’s independence. Steem is sovereignty. Steem is renaissance.

Steem is ours. Steem is.

Sounds a bit bombastic. But it's probably OK for the Declaration of Independence.

Good morning. In less than a year, bloggers from here will join others from around the world, and we will be launching the largest infowar in the history of mankind.

Mankind, that word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences any more. We will be united in our common interest. We will once again be fighting for our freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution, but from annihilation.

We're fighting for our right to live, to exist -- and should we win the day, 2016 will be known as the year when the world declared in one voice, 'We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on, we're going to survive.'

Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

I like it. A lot.

It resonates loudly as I've seen people already concerned about the Whales (the big fish with the large amounts of steem power) and trying to treat it the same as failed states and institutions in history, though it is something very different. It could shatter and replace new paradigms. Patterns of socialism and cronyism failed in existing states, so we must resist those that thinking imposing such things upon steem is desireable. They fail to see that there is no hoarding. The person with massive steem power distributes and shares power with every action they take. Short of envy, and jealousy there should be no reason to deride them and propose limitations. Post well, reply well, vote well, and you too will be rewarded. Simple, elegant, beautiful, and freedom.
