I'm not powering down until I'm able to purchase my first car!

in #steem7 years ago

With my trading skills slowly going up and the price of Steem looking nice and dandy, I've decided to turn this "savings account" into a car fund. So maybe for those who've seen my posts before, you're well aware of the fact that I had a brief runaway period when I turned 16 years old. I purchased a cruddy '99 Dodge Minivan and used it for a total of probably 24 hours, or even less. Due to me basically leaving it behind at the police station, I won't truly count it as my first car ;)

Since I live in Poland now, the prices here a lot cheaper. I can live a pretty luxurious life for $1,000 a month! So obviously the smart thing to do is pay off all my bills, and try to live for under $500-600. Some of the cars here are also quite relatively cheap, and I just need something that gets me from Point A to Point B without it completely falling apart.

Currently at the time of this post, my account is valued at: $1,899.17

Really if I had $5,000 that would be enough for a durable car, insurance for a year and a few months worth of gas. Unfortunately the gas prices here are like a few times more expensive than in Chicago.

But I think it'd be smarter to wait till my account was valued at $10,000 before I begin my power down adventure. I LOVE driving and just cruising around the city, so this is incredibly motivating for me to keep posting here, curating, and investing in Steem (I know it's not much, but over on Poloniex maybe some of my trades might help the price go up a teeny bit. Currently I've got about .4-.5BTC in STEEM).

If I'm able to do it, fantastic. Might be a fun video to post up on my channel, which could encourage even more users over to the platform. Maybe it'd hit some local news stations that a 19 year old kid bought a car using Steem. Worst case scenario, if the prices go down I'll still be posting here and saving up my Steem Power. Best case scenario, the prices go up x10 and I'd be so ecstatic (As I think we all would be!). This is so cheesy, but since I'm self aware of it, it renders it okay. LET'S GO TO THE MOON!

You've got the motivation, now it's time to create even more content and get that car haha!

Exactly. Currently I'm struggling a little bit, but that's only because I'm sick as heck with a high fever and trying to juggle livestreaming, youtube, posting on here, trading crypto, and setting up social media pumps.

Good luck avilsd.I wish you the best

Dude you're only 19? F me I feel old.

And are you serious to say you can buy a second hand car with 5k? Poland really that cheap? And you live in Warsaw by the way that's like dead center of the country!

If you know what to look for, you can find a decent old car for $2-3K. Really I'll be looking for $3-4K and the rest will go for insurance/gas/any possible repairs. It's not going to be perfect, but depending on what you're looking for, an old Skoda or Alfa Romeo could do well. In America 10+ year old cars would fall apart (sorry, but that's the truth.. the minivan was an absolute death trap but then again I got it for like $900). If you REALLY wanted to you could probably get a bad Fiat or Daewoo for a couple hundred. It wouldn't run pretty, but it'd run. The only thing is in Poland a lot of the cars are modified (if they were in a crash, they do this a lot to more expensive cars brought over from Germany such as old Audis or VW's) so they seem much better on the outside than they really are. You either need to have a trained eye (which I don't) or bring someone along with you who knows what to look out for.

Interesting!

THANK YOU <3 here's an upvote

hey that is a good idea @avilsd

full steem ahead!

Thank you @streetstyle I honestly think it's doable! I don't think anybody else fully was able to get a car using Steemit only <3

All the best for your car and I hope to see your wish come true.

Thank you :) I'm really excited for what's to come this summer!
