RE: 1,000,000 Steem Accounts

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

I have to agree with you to some extent. But consider this, the "active/inactive" address ration of the Bitcoin and Ethereum network is waaaay worse. By fat i dare say that Steem has the best numbers when it comes to activity to address ratio.

There are 2 million activity (network transactions) in the Steem network in the past 24 hours alone. As compared to the barely 200,000. Steem only has 1 million addresses so far while Bitcoin already have upwards of 14 million.

Of course, the data above doesnt paint the whole picture. Steem and Bitcoin are designed for totally different purposes.

From a purely technical standpoint, all the spam thats happening right now barely put a dent on the Steem Blochain network capacity. Operating at only 0.2% strain to the network. Bitcoin was running at 100% for the past 3 years before the spam stopped. Cryptokitties killed Ethereum and today it's still experiencing some congestion. The spams arent even a problem for Steem to handle.

If those who have more, if those who have millions, they do not start giving important delegations they will continue to have millions, but millions of nothing.

That I concur. but it doesnt mean they can only delegate or die. There's alot a user can do for the benefit of the platform, not just delegation. But then again we will have to understand that not will do things in the name of altruism Steem is a microcosm of the real very capitalist world after all.

And it doesnt only have to be a whale, a minnow delegating 10SP to the right cause can have HUGE positive impact to the whole platform too! @steemcleaners and @spaminator are always in need of delegation no matter how small.

If minnows arent doing what they hope the whales would do, do you think its fair for the whales to do it?

Actually, if bitcoin and ethereum are worse, it's not something that worries me ...I speak of steemit, which is what interests me...and I agree with you ... they do not have to do altruism...they should do it for their own good...I do my part ... doing the purpose of the platform that is to share quality and creating projects...and giving my opinion...the sale of votes has to end ...the powerful should use the platform and the blockchain ethically...and reward quality and the projects that make the platform grow.
And it should be the other way around ... the whales have to lead by example
and the minnows will follow

if on a platform as spectacular as steemit only little more than 5% of users are active something is wrong ...
