I do agree with you, but reinforce the need of having common sense. The picture posted here as a reply that a member gets $140 for just upvoting himself it's crazy!
There is no rule against though, and if you post an article I reckon you like it. In my case as a new steemian, it doesn't make much difference and with still a small base of followers becames justifiable.
