@roelandp what did you do with the $3683 you made last week?

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

@roelandp made $3683 last week (yes, that's $14k+ per month or $168k per year) in witness rewards.

What was this used for @roelandp?

He hasn't signed posted in 3 months, I don't actually expect a response.

Another witness taking rewards from the pool and doing NOTHING.

REMOVE YOUR WITNESS VOTES FROM @roelandp AND GIVE IT TO SOMEONE WHO DESERVES IT.

Now, I understand why Jerry wants to organize steem events.

self-upvote to fund the new steem conference/festival. It will be huge!

but you got no nuts to flag this.

its easy disagreement on rewards flag...

I totally agree with the rewards on this thread.

That's a nice amount you earn with this horrible bashing post. As his girlfriend and the mother of of his child I can assure you Roeland is putting a lot of time in the steem network, he is busy with it almost day and night. Especially in the months before the event it's a double full-time job as Roeland is really a perfectionist in what he does. It's saddening to read this post and some of the harsh comments, because it's hurting him very much as he puts so much work and love in steemit. I think @Berniesanders also forgot the love he gave him with the sign he made for him for steemfest because he wasn't able to make it there.

Wasn't able to make it, or, didn't care to attend? I still stand by my comment that he is overpaid for whatever he is doing.

And FYI - you obviously don't understand Steemit - but I will have actually lost money on this post.

Wow. That's enough for me to live off for ~3 months. My entire student debt was less than this and I struggled for several months to pay that back.

I also delegated my @asapers project another 50 SP a few hours ago, so I now delegate 100% of my Steem Power, which is a rather cool achievement actually. However, I have a total of 1000 Steem Power, and all of that goes to what I believe is good things.

All that being said, the amount he earns in 2 days is more than everything I have... And I'm trying to be active each day.

And I'm definitely not the only one.

Sometimes, I just wish I had been dealt a better hand.

For 3 months???
Salaries(annually) in some countries, one of these is mine too,are 10 times lower than this number mentioned there....

boo hoo. do something about it then. dont expect steemit to fix your life. these people got in early and got the votes for the witness positions. who cares? it's a voting mechanism for a reason.

this platform isnt meant to distribute free money to anyone and everyone that wants or needs it. holy fuck.

I won't approve anyone who dress like a crocodile dundee in Steemfest anyway.

I think you're confusing Roeland with Brock Pierce there. Roeland has more the Stifler look.

Do I ? Might be lets check

The resemblance is amazing

And just for that, you should vote for him as witness.

Man I don't even know if you're serious or not but you're hilarious.

wow where did you find that picture fitz.

the meme is mine

don't tell me I'm the first to see a slight resemblance. thought it was funny, don't wanna offend though, already have had my share of downvotes for the day

maybe I shouldn't have said this, now I can forget about a RP delegation..

You can forget YA delegation too, with that "no offense". Sheesh.

Whoa, thats insanely huge amount!
His weekly earning is my salary for 2 months 🤣

it is in steempower. i delegate 2/5 currently and plan to delegate more. Delegation mean others reap the rewards from it. I currently delegate steempower to MSP, MinnowBooster and Utopian-io if I am correct.

Hey @roelandp I've figured it out for you. You could delegate some sp to @dbooks.org . You already upvoted the introduction post which could mean you like the project :D

you are delegating to accounts that already get plenty of delegations, you could have made a difference if you were delegating to other communities that do a lot of work and get zero help from users with a lot of SP..

I don't feel like delegating to a service that rewards users for their delegated SP is a worthy cause. Maybe if you were delegating to a user(s) who constantly upvotes and resteems quality content, it would be more selfless.

Obviously I don't know what you do with the rewards you're given from delegating and yes you deserve some sort of payment for being a witness, but there are better ways of showing your dedication to the community who are keeping this platform going. I don't feel that is a legitimate reason for your case.

uh, witnesses can do whatever they want with their witness rewards though?

A witness that doesn't do shit shouldn't be in the profit zone.
No post in 2 months...

I post every damn day, I created the Minnow Support Contest & Steemschool.net to increase the quality of content here on Steemit and I network with a lot of people here on Steemit while some witnesses that make them epic profits don't do shit and get paid hardcore for it.

Many people that I have talked to have removed their votes from the top 20 witnesses already, sadly that won't matter much because not all of them are whales.

Hate to say it, but Steemit is spiraling downwards.

Gave you my first witness vote, I've seen you put in the offort every day, so you've definitely earned it. I should really take a better look at your Steemschool initiative, seems like it could be helpful for me :)

Just keep creating content and I know you'll be on top of Steemit some day!

Thank you for the support Daan!

Please see my reply above why I don't post on the blockchain that often. I do post a lot during the road towards steemfest and I feel I then already drain the reward pool too much (those rewards always go to SteemFest however). Due to quite some botvotes I chose to not write to so many posts. I hope you find some time to read my reply.

Guess you mean that people would hate you even more if you would post because you would get too much & too high votes?

So you don't do that to limit your income?...

In that case I can understand it, however, you are making so much cash here, you should give some back to the community or at least participate.

A delegation to Minnowbooster is not what I consider giving back to the community, quite the opposite actually.

You could also just write 1 post per week to keep us up to date and show the community that you are not inactive.

I have read the top reply & I agree with Bernie.

Thank you for replying Roelandp.

Yeh just like in real life when u have money u earn money pretty unfair.

Calling shit out isn't exactly what I would call "playing a huge part on the destruction of Steemit".

My vote went to @jesta instead.

I take it you want his spot?... spoiler alert... Bernie Sanders loses

Jazz hands and drama....

I am very glad you are doing this job @berniesanders, it allows people like me who are not as involved in the community to generate an opinion, and ultimately, a position regarding where do we want it to go. Also, we need to do whatever we can to fight the oligarchy that is forming.

The voting of minnows does not matter. Check here:
http://www.steemreports.com/witness-voters/
Only the voting behaviour of accounts with at least 50000 SP makes a difference.....

This. @tipu send tip

Hi @holger80! You have received 0.3 SBD tip from @cardboard!

What's the price for a kilo of cocain these days?

lol i dont do drugs. I have replied bernie's question.

Wow that's what you get paid to be a witness?

I'm running, vote for me people.

Nope. Just what you get, when you are a top 20 witness.

that and you get some kind of subsidy from jerry i thnk when you like in the top 80 or something

As a witness on rank #134 this just makes me sad.

Wait, you pay people for voting you?

bruh

yes

Please tell me that is not what all the witnesses are doing.

blog del.jpg

So ur gonna run on the road or where?? If you meant ur planning to run for witness.. Please go ahead if you feel you can do a better job than @roelandp..

The road of course. Gotta get my daily dose of jogging.
As for the vote, I was talking about my latest post.
Teehee

You forgot to share the link bro 😜

That was a tactic to make people check out my whole blog instead.

Maybe he can check me out..... Maybe my content isn't that good though....

Bernie I have a question, what are the other witnesses doing anyway?? Everyone is delegating their votes to either bitbots or some person who uses it to self upvote themselves.. As per my knowledge, @roelandp is helping some minnows to grow.. But like u said, let's ignore that.. He puts all his time n efforts to organise steemfest, which according to u is 'cash grab'.. So again, no point arguing.. Only if u knew the amount of hard work a person puts in..

@roelandp according to me has always tried to get ppl from different communities together under one roof every year.. N has successfully pulled off two great events..

Yes, I do agree that off late he hasn't been active.. Doesn't mean he disrespects steemit or the community.. Just because people have all the time in the world to sit and peek into what others are earning and question what they do out of it, doesn't mean the other has to sit and answer.. I feel @roelandp has been doing a great job for steemit and building it.. And hence will always support him..

I think disrespect is the perfect word to describe his actions.

Lol.. It's ok for the top users of steemit to delegate thier steem to users who upvote themselves.. But you have issue that a person wasn't active for a month.. Grow up bro.. Stop ur jealousy for a few good steemitians and actually do some good for the community urself..

Jealousy? What do you think it is I'm jealous of? My accounts are worth 10x what his are. Try again.

@berniesanders I'm just curious. What projects do you run on this platform and what projects do you support with all these sp through delegations?

His looks.
ayyyyy

And someone was busy posting that minnows should create quality post and comments everyday. This is a classic case of a monkey working while the baboon eats the reward.

The accused and guys like him are what'll eventually run down this platform.

I think one of the difficult things is that the witness system is obscure and hard to understand for new members of the steem community. I appreciate what you're doing @berniesanders, but I wonder how we could make it better for new people. Instead of just calling out witnesses that didn't do anything, we need to highlight those that are giving to the community and show new steemians how to identify a good witness/witness candidate vs a bad one. But that's just my .02 I still thank you big time for highlighting this as I hadn't given any witness votes previously but I've been able to upvote a few who are actually giving thanks in part to your posts and the discussion they've created.

Wow really ?

That is a stupid lot amount of money for someone who doesn't care

Is he still witnessing blocks and running a node or whatever?

Idk doesn't that cost decent cash to operate? I'm just trying to get some more backstory on this..

He is currently #3, so he must be a pretty busy witness.. right?

But I guess if he's committed to the blockchain, he could have given an update within the past month or two..

Without more info as to what he is or isn't doing, I can't make a sound decision.

Running a witness node costs less than $100 per month and literally 0 time since there haven't been any updates to this (becoming) worthless blockchain.

Hey Bernie,

On your previous witness thread:

https://steemit.com/steem/@berniesanders/do-any-of-these-witnesses-do-anything

Some of the witnesses claim to be spending hundreds/thousands on their node upkeep.

Do you think they're talking shit?

Those that are running full nodes are likely spending ~1k/month in hardware, and putting some time into running that node.

There are VERY FEW that are running full nodes. Running a witness node does not require ANY support/time and very little $ (less than $100/month).

1 node baremetal in general costs exactly $100.

If you run 10 it costs... right...

But yeah there is only 1 signing yeah.

IF a witness runs multiples witness servers that will add up.

Let's do the math, the price varies where you host the servers.

$120 per month. 1 Witness node with a minimum 64GB RAM and 200 SSD harddrive.
$120 per month. 2nd Witness node for a backup, fail over purpose.
$100 per month. For Seed node. You can create multiple seeds if you like.
$650 per month. 1 Full RPC, self managed server. If you hire an employee cost should be added here.

$960+ per month with all these servers + labor cost (if available).

The Top20 will be able to afford this cost, but not all of them run Full RPC node anyway.

If you use Amazon or Google hosting in the USA, you will pay 50% more to host your Witness servers.

Will you ever consider a Witness? Answers the following questions first.

  • Can you afford to spend $100 or more per month for the hosting fee?
  • Can you manage the Witness server?
  • Do you think people will vote for your Witness campaign? As of this date April 3, 2018, you will need 3200+ mVest (Votes) to be in Top100. The Top101 below produce 1 block a day which is equivalent to .9 SP, that is NOT enough to pay for the server.

If you still insist and still want to be a witness. Read this updated guide as of March 2, 2018
https://que.com/howto-setup-witness-node-by-yehey/

Vote your Witness wisely.

Thanks @berniesanders to open this discussion.

Well he is running his node, but the costs are unlikely to be as high. Some see that the top witnesses should do more than just run the witness by supporting Steem and the communities by other methods than just running a node.

Any good recommendations for witnesses that are focusing on development of the platform in ways to help keep it relevant/grow?

@curie is not the best.

@curie is the best!

I set you as my proxy since you seem to be more informed on the witness topics than a lot of other people on here.

Hope you get to top 20+ soon.

Your posts don't expose shit and your response to me has nothing to do with my original comment. Just seems like you're spamming for attention to your worthless/pointless blog.

Me making @berniesanders my witness proxy has nothing to do with your claims of his abuse. Something wrong with your head?

That question is rhetorical by the way, we all already know the answer.

I ssupport you in this one, witnesses IMHO should be active or at least post weekly reports of what they are doing and how they are running their nodes/how they are using their stake for and things like this. And the fact that he did not even visited Steemit in the last three months makes it a really bad example for the other users. I do not expect an answer from him, but at least an answer from these people who voted for him as a witness.

PS: why do you insist to call this a worthless blockchain? It is doing pretty well in my opinion, you just need to be more positive!

If you think this blockchain is doing well, you need to open your eyes a little wider.

Could you be more precise, excepting the low quality over rewarded content, what else is wrong here?

Have you not run into the bandwidth issues? Maybe not, but I know I have.

Really? Check my blog, I find this coincidence funny :))

LOL - I actually did not see that, touche sir.

Korean pump and dumps aren't a good barometer for what the general public thinks of the network.

Indeed but there are a lot of new developments going on, there will be SMTs coming, hivemind and others. I refuse to think that this blockchain has no chance.

Why don't you run as a witness?

So who are the ones that have voted for roelandp? Who should you contact?

I agree that if someone earns such a lot of money they probably should do a bit more for it. However this is just the way Steemit works. Some whales are still voting for him. I think this kind of system will most likely never work, due to the complexity and greed of individuals.

Btw he was online about 1 month ago. @roelandp.life

I am every day on steem. I read almost every day. I am sorry I don't participate comments that often. I feel that with steemfest I overuse the reward pool already a lot and also am overly active around that period in here. Please read my reply with reasoning why i don't post. It's exactly why i started @roelandp.life to not reape / rape the reward pool with those pic only posts.

Is there a list or a tool I can use to find out about witnesses activity @berniesandars? I guess I can look at the witness I am voiting for blog and blockchain activity.

I went through all my witness links and deleted quite a few, I am suprised how man of the top witness don't post much and haven't writen anything about their activities supporting Steemit. Now I need to find out which witness are actually contributing besides just runing a node.

Can you point out some witnesses who deserve votes and why.

So that those who deserve can get more attention than those who doesn't.

OMG that is a shitload of money.... My painting academy tuitions would be paid in just 5 months...

I never even picked him ..

Maybe another pyramid scheme?

WOW nice. Bet he had a nice time with that money. Soon to get Lambo hahahaha. Spend it on Smartcash and go to the moon lol :)

Although it must be annoying having a steemit police running around, this is epic money and having somebody checking on the big guys is a good thing. I wouldnt say it's a attack. If a witness is feeling attacked by a question, maybe there really is sth not done conscientiously. I apologize if Im wrong but I dont know the witness.

Nice income man. I wouldnt need to work 8 hours a day with just 10% of that.

so yeap follow me and upvote now i will back u

whats happening here?

Congratulations @berniesanders!

@berniesanders, thank you for the post and for keeping Witnesses and Whales aware and active in the blockchain...i am tired, but I want to remember you for helping and making a difference to all the little fishes here......you are the fun whale!

hey @berniesanders / @nextgencrypto, you have my support, and will spread the word

Hey @dj123 Did you see my Com entry about this issue?

Excellent post my friend!! That's why I did vote for your witness.
Don't sell yourself short!! You have a way of making things happen!!
Thank you!!

well done voted for you
while you at it get your hands on free cryptos woohoo
https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@banditqueen/alt-coins-2018-free-faucets-update

Sir, thank you for posting this beautiful post @berniesanders (-16) Sir. I was looking for Witnesses outside the anti-Russia/China coalition area, and here I have found one to vote for :-)

https://steemit.com/witness/@pagandance/world-war-iii-on-steemit

upvoted and resteemed :-)

So out of curiosity. How much does the hardware, hosting, maintenance, and bandwidth costs monthly?

Dear @berniesanders, you like witnesses who really devote their time to make the Steemit platform better. My team and have released the first version of a mobile app which we hope will make a difference for Steemit. Next versions will get more and more cool features. Hope you we can count on your support.

Hey bernie i gotta reach out to you, please let me know how to contact you, could not find you on discord or steemit.chat

@roelandp did an interview with my daughter for her schoolproject about Steem. Maybe that's not much, but it is something.

was it your daughter ? haha i didnt know that.

hahahah wow, he does so much.

No, you're right posting a VEVO Youtube Foo Fighthers music video link on the blockchain is contributing much more to the Steem community than organizing Steemfest, where hundreds of Steemians from all over the world gather to meet, network, discuss, learn, grow and party!

Since you've gone from attempting to make valid points, to shilling bullshit, I'm flagging your comments.

Organizing one gathering a year, does not justify $168k/year (at these low prices).

Hey, his original comment was actually funny. :/

We do not have to agree on everything Bernie, I felt kinda left out until today. You've upvoted me in the past. But now, finally, after 285 days on Steem I got an official @berniesanders downvote.

Leave them. I won't change my position on this topic anyway. However, out of respect:

You're right, we don't have to agree on everything. I did, however, think pretty much anyone would agree that $168/year to organize a few day event is ridiculous and looks like a cash grab when he doesn't contribute in any other way here.

You are such a pussy lmao

Cringe
Source

This... This was bad

But now, finally, after 285 days on Steem I got an official @berniesanders downvote.

They Bern don't they?

Ok, I'll see myself out.

I can post whatever the fuck I want you idiot, I'm not trying to become a witness.

lmao ded

.

Keep wasting money on those bot votes, I'm going to make sure they're a complete waste of money for you.

Time to make you my bitch.

I'm all for you getting more bitches. but I'd like to divert your attention a bit.

I know you're a fan of comedy, well that and a chick with legs, but hey who isn't. I was hoping you would support our efforts to grab his attention to help with COM. We've not asked you, nor will we ask you, for delegation, you need your SP to collect bitches, but we'd greatly appreciate your support if you could help to raise awareness to help create a funny community.

I dunno maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree but I feel like I'm not, maybe the timing is wrong I dunno.

Thanks for reading this, even though you won't admit to it. :)

Cheers,

Idi
