I have more than one account, and whether or not people think well of it or not I upvote my own accounts with my other accounts. I don't understand how that is somehow not cool when steemit is full of bots that upvote for pay, so if someone has a problem with me upvoting myself, well, go back to YouTube dude.
But here is my question, are we being scammed? I put over $175 of my ETH into Steemit between my accounts and the one that has the most money has the most upvoting power. What did my $175 get me? A lame $0.01 upvoting power and if we upvote too frequently all the power drops, so I'm really not sure how it is much of a return on investment.
However, it really doesn't seem that my accounts are truly being rewarded accurately. Everytime I upvote something it says $0.01 added to that comment or post. But 7 days later all my upvoting comes out to something like 0.001 steem and 0.001 SP for the whole week!!! That's insane and makes Steemit as an investment a super crappy investment.
For this reason, I fully intend to put my $175 (which is worth like $133 now) into Ethereum Classic which is about to go on Coinbase and explode in value...
What do you think? Am I missing something here in my calculations?
That's because only payouts greater than 0.02 are paid after 7 days!
The rest is considered dust and provides no income (even though the balance under the post/comment says 0.01 $).
Also keep in mind that even if you reach 0.02 one day, it may not be still at 0.02 after 7 days because the value of the upvote decrease the more the upvoter uses his upvotes. I know it's weird..!
I would suggest to try @dustsweeper so that you never lose your dust. You send them for example 0.1 SBD and they'll use (double) that amount to upvote your comments before the expiration to reach the minimum payout.

Asi que tus 175 justifica lo que recibes que es una quinta parte de 1000.
Y es normal que cada vez que vote se reduzca el poder ya que disminuye tangensialmente.

No scam at all. Your notion of what $175 of steempower is worth as far as a vote is way cockeyed. To get about a .50 vote you have to have 10,000 SP which is a whole 'nother world from $175 worth. You don't make money by upvoting yourself unless you are fairly well loaded to start with. You make money by blogging, curating and interacting. If you do that daily you can double or triple your $175 in a year. Quite a bit more if you are good and build a following. But it is not in any way a get rich platform, or even make a living (except for a few), or for the average more then make a couple bucks a week platform, at least initially. You can grow it, but it takes time and work.

I currently have very low steem power. But I just use steemit for reading and writing. I'm not expecting to earn much. Because it seems you only get high returns when you invest high amounts of money in it. And I don't have those money! LOL
