The price and volume of Steem has been on the move the past 2 hours but why? I first looked on the new / trending posts here on Steemit and was surprised to see nothing about this, no news, no theories, no anything. I get a suggestion of some sort of media coverage or a story dropping, non that I can find. So whats going on? That isn't just rhetorical, does anybody have the inside scoop?
Maybe it isn't just insiders and maybe its just time for Steem to make some moves, on a Sunday of all days. I did notice everyone talking about steem going viral out on the World Wide Web ;) classic reference. So I noticed what others have as well the ever increasing rate of sign ups here on steem (and these ain't no Indian Click Banks) The number seems to be moving a lot faster then I thought it would be. When I started this post it was 50,490 registered_accounts now its 50,628 registered_accounts according to http://steemd.com and if I take any longer to post thi... I'll have to change my graphic again!
So anyone have the scoop? Or any thoughts?

This. He pretty much told to all his followers that Steem is the ancap social network of choice as it can't be controlled or censored and already has a higher than average ratio of ancap including founders of network, and that everyone should consider moving over here and perhaps even invest in it for the most daring. What we are observing here is probably the effect of his endorsement.
I just noticed the dollar vigilante is the only wallet history on the platform you can't see... That's strange. I hope he is going all in. I figured he would take a little out to see how the power down works and past that on to his followers. But you can't see that.... I do like him, I hope he sticks around on Steemit. We need users like him here.
Well I will be ALL IN for the foreseeable future and hopefully more and more will jump on that idea. Vested power and interest means more power for the user and that is a big plus.
Same here, I was one of those people who probably registered while you were writing your article. I cant see going back to other social platforms now even after just a few hours of use. At the same time though I'm not exactly eager to open the gates by advertising this place everywhere yet either...
I think alot of crypto users are pouring into STEEMIT now. The initial pump had most of us confused and just assumed a dump period would quickly follow. After a few weeks, more are noticing that steem didn't dump and want to know why the market cap is so high.
Atleast thats my theory and how i came to be on steem. Crypto users are more apt to jump in after they have determined its not some type of scam, which can take some time.
If STEEMIT goes viral in the "outside the crypto" world, then we could easily see some ETH cap range.
Steemit is building with lots new members hopefully those members have come to read and not just write. Hope the @dollarvigilante spreads some joy by reading and leaving a message
Yeah the new account numbers (growth) are the most important right now. I ignore technical charts. If creative people are joining, then our content is going to upgrade, which is good for long term value. If rich people join, then they are going to want to buy some Steem to take the shortcut to a large power up and this will increase the price short term. I think that we need to make sure that we continue to bring in the right sort of people. It's not only about a headcount, it's quality. We are building a culture here. A free society. That's what Steemit (and the Steem blockchain) means to me.

Someone decided to put 100 BTC (about 60K USD) is Steem ... And very blindly so...

More people in could mean more Steem being earning and could lower price of Steem. However it has been holding it's own, I am pleasantly surprised. I think the large holders are doing a great job of not flooding the trading space with Steem.

I think there will be a rush of people who already have bitcoin into this but it will take some time for those already not vested in cripto. Perhaps not that long as even a few cents could motivate interest? I certainly hope so!
Interesting question, @blueorgy! In any case, if demand increases, it shows that people's faith in this project grows. The price of a good is determined by the belief in its value. Apparently, people better understand how this Steemit project works and decide to invest. This is just my opinion.

Yeah, been a lot of posts from established names. DollarVigalante and Playboy model.... gaining some media savvy people and they're dragging their followers. Exciting times!
