@abit and @smooth - Please remove your downvotes.

in #steem7 years ago

I almost cried over @darthnava 's post about the medial procedure he needs.  The whole Steemit community has came together on this post and as the day has went on I keep checking in to see if @abit and @smooth 's downvotes have been removed. They still haven't been.  I'm assuming that those downvotes were put in place by a bot that counters other whale votes.  People have been upset and confused as to why things are being downvoted in the past so I ask this.

Can this powerful community be allowed to give @darthnava who has blogging consistently for almost a year the ability to improve his life?  It gave a girl who hasn't been here in 5 months $31,543 for a simple makeup tutorial.

Let's do this right!  Have a whale meeting if you have to.

Thank you for reading my post and please consider following me @brianphobos

I liked the fact you omitted payout for this post, just to send the message, it shows sincerity.

At the minimum, what I'd like to see, is for them to respond as to why downvoting is necessary in this isolated case for @darthnava.

Naturally if @darthnava makes 50 posts, asking for upvotes for the same situation it gets weird. (He hasn't). But that one specific post he made definately deserves the upvotes it got. At least I think so. Other people may not. We just don't know until they say something. :)

Yeah, I'm hoping they say something as well as an explanation.

Thank you for saying what many are thinking. Following. @ironshield

I'm sure for the newer users it has to be confusing why anyone would "flag / downvote" that post. I would love to see this become the highest paid post that Steemit has ever seen.

I'm assuming that those downvotes were put in place by a bot that counters other whale votes.

That's correct.

They could probably just manually take the downvotes away on this particular post right?

I'm just wondering how it would change things if the downvotes were taken away and then the whales came out and voted for this particular post.

It would take a rather large percentage of the reward pool and allocate it to that one post. I'm not sure that's the best way to go about it.

Don't forget that individual donations can be made. If some whales want to give more, they can always dip into their account wallets and send as much as they'd like. Would be great to see Steemit, Inc. do something like that. They have millions of dollars in value and it would make for an excellent PR story about the platform's utility and generosity. That's how you do marketing (and also help someone out).

What ats said. if I wasn't a minnow I would send some.. I will still send some 1 or 2 SBD's are better than nothing I guess. I seen someone send 1000 straight to his account which was awesome, I hope more have done it

He has actually been receiving a lot of donations in addition to the post payout.

Yeah the great thing is that @darthnava 's wallet is getting hit with some great donations from users but I agree with you. More donations could really go a long way. Plus this is a member of the community that did his time in the trenches and never gave up on Steemit. Not just someone who jumped in here because they thought they could snag some coin. I even went way back through a bunch of the posts and he had made reference to his back issues and had pictures of himself in his wheelchair way back.
I'm glad to see how much has been done so far but I just really wish this could be the biggest payout of all time.

That'll be hard to do with the price being half of what it was during those previous massive payouts. Looking at what he said in the post about the costs, I'm sure he'll be coming out ahead on it already. With the price feed still catching up, the post payout should keep going up anyway, due to the increases in price today. I imagine it'll probably be close to $10,000 by the time it pays out, if prices can hold. Maybe even higher.

That is a good point on the price feed catching up. Hopefully everything falls into place. The post really grabbed me. My ability to be active and able bodied is so important to me. To think of the struggles he has been through is unimaginable.

I'm not sure it's that simple. They might have to reprogram their bot in order to do so.

Yeah I'm not sure either.

flagaway() {
if (@darthnava) {
flag = 0
} else {
flag = 1
}
}

Ha it probably would be a simple reprogramming, huh? I'm not a dev, so I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff.

yeah my code is sort of made up there but you get the point. :-)

I'm not sure how difficult it would actually be but @smooth is one of the smartest programmers on this platform and possibly in the world. He is a Monero dev and I guess is a main dev for Aeon which is a Monero clone. I can tell you this. The code he is dealing with would mind fuck 99.99 % of developers.

Some people never change in life.
