I was doing this too. Until I learned that voting too much and too fast significantly reduces the power of your vote. I was still being picky but I was voting a lot. During the outage I happened to look at myself at steemd.com and noticed my voting power was down to 43%. It gradually regenerates and goes back up. This means you cannot game the system by voting on a lot of stuff and expecting curator rewards. I still vote for a lot of things, but I no longer vote for my own posts which is one of the tips that some videos stated we should do. I also don't immediately up vote any comment. If the person says something that is informative, or something that could lead to a discussion I certainly will upvote those.

I suspect a lot of the very powerful steem people are pretty careful with their up votes. Though at this early level you can see their influence in trending. When one of them votes for something it is pretty profound.
In fact... the voting power thing seems to indicate that spending too much time on steemit and voting on stuff you think is good can be bad for your curator rewards. You can still do it and support the platform but you won't be getting rewarded much for voting. I kind of am okay with that as I post and reply a lot so I am rewarded other ways.

Haha.... no worries. The thought counts. I used to vote on all replies but I vote on a lot of things that I like. I believe my voting power is currently 30+% which means I am not nearly as effective as I could be and I still have a lot to learn about how to potentially balance that. Or I could just choose to not care so much about that and focus on posting and replying. I will still up vote, but perhaps I need not be concerned with the fact my votes might not be very effective due to the frequency of my voting.
