How To Trade Your Byteball for SBD or STEEM

in #steem7 years ago

If you're a Steemian and haven't been online in a while you're probably asking WTF is this Byteball thing? I don't want to Byteballs and you can't make me ok? Steemains are shilling these Byteballs like hot cakes as if Jordon Belfort himself was their leader and we're all choking on it. Myself included, I gave in and jumped on the hype train and claimed my few bucks worth of Byteballs because well FIM (Free Internet Money) bro.

If you havn't already claimed your Byteball - check out my previous post about it here - All Aboard Byteball The New Steem Hype Train

Stuck with Byteballs?

Anyhoo once I got through the pretty painless process of claiming my Shiteballs, I mean Byteballs I was like yeah now what can I do with it? hmmmm, well basically nothing at this point as far as I can see. If anyone can enlighten me on the use of this coin i'd really appreciate it. The website and whitepaper is filled with generic use cases and doesn't seem very special just a slapping together of cool features from other cryptocurrencies before it.

Exchange them for SBD or STEEM

So lets get down to why you opened this article. Open your Byteball wallet on whichever device you're using.

Head over to one of these 3 land of shitcoin sites, well maybe not Bitrexx but the other 2 definitely a shitcoiners paradise.

Register an account there. Create a Byteball address on your new Bitrexx, Cryptopia or Ubit account and send the Byteballs from your native wallet to the exchange. Once your Byteballs have been transfered try and exchange them for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash or in some cases Dogecoin based the amount you have and the buying orders in play.

These exchanges don't always have the greatest volumes so you have to make do with what you get. Once you've succesfully traded your Byteballs for another currency mentioned above. You can then head over to blocktrades - https://blocktrades.us/?input_coin_type=eth&output_coin_type=steem&receive_address=chekohler

and send me your cryptocurrency so I can power up my account. No just kidding. Pick out the currency you have exchanged it for IE

  • Bitcoin
  • Ethereum
  • Dash
  • Doge

and have blocktrades convert it inot SBD, STEEM or a STEEM power leasing of your choice. Either way its going to kick up your account a notch and we can all do with a little bit of that now can't we?

Have your say

Have you heard about this Byteball thing? What do you make of it? Why is the value so darn high for this obscure cryptocurrency? Also whats with the 75% value smart contract lock in period? So many questions I need to be answered and I'm not keen on reading another whitepaper. If you have done a review on Byteball in a post or video, drop your link and ill check it out.

Are you holding your Byteball? Are you going to trade it? Are you going to power up your account? Let me kno. Keen to hear what other Steemains are doing with their Free Internet Money

Is the airdrop still going? Yesterday I know three people tried to get - but nothing. Do you know something?

Ya, still working today no problem. As long as they follow the instructions properly. I've set up a couple of people today and no issues.

Thanks for th be confirmation I also set up a couple of peeps today and I didn’t hear anything back so I assume it’s a good sign lol

There is a lot of people spamming and stealing references so that is where a lot of the issues are. So a lot of people who are trying to set up the newbies aren't getting the rewards they should.

Yeah i saw a few posts on the drama with people creating new accounts like crazy and pumping up their rep with bid bots. It seems like a lot of effort but hey free internet money gets people hyped up pretty fast

Yes the airdrop is not stopping well as far as ive heard. So even if people dont have the reputation yet they have time to earn it and then apply for the airdrop

If you can reffer those 3 people to my post I can try helping them claim their byteball

They have already attest their account. The problem is that they did not get coins. Thats life. But I will told them

Oooh never heard of that, will do some research on it and see if theres a trend with it. Mine went pretty smoothy. A couple of screenshots would be helpful too

It was my conversation with the bot which was a success claim.@chekohler, please see below my screenshots.

This one is from a friend who didn't got the coins even after attested their steemit id.

this message was not in his conversation with the bot.

what could be the problem?

hmmm have you tried checking via the blockexplorer what the blockchain has on record? - https://explorer.byteball.org/

Lol i'm not about to try and type out that wallet address

Sent bro! Good luck getting them Byteballs

What makes you think that the value of Byteball is so high? It's actually very cheap at the moment, compared to other coins out there, anybody planning to sell right now is just crazy, but if you need to do it to keep your portfolio in balance then it is fine.

$126 per GBYTE is just a number for that unit size, so if you compare the the value with total supply (1m GBYTE) then it makes this coin actually very cheap. If exchanges would list it in MBYTE then total supply would be 100m MBYTE and the price would be $0.126.

Then you ask, what can I do with it.
It has fully functional and pretty much feature-complete wallet (almost everything in whitepaper is done by now) that can send transactions for the cost of $0.00007. Now this makes the value of GBYTE even more crazier, how can something be so cheap to store a transaction in public ledger. Also, you can store anything on Byteball DAG and pay only the cost of the size it takes, so 100KB of text will cost you 100 000 Bytes, which is also crazy cheap.

There are tons of shitcoins that promise that they will have betting, oracles, smart-contracts, multi-sig wallets soon - Byteball has all that already today. Best example of smart-contracts is P2P sports betting bot, I have built a website front-end for that bot for first timers to have easier access i wrote about it in my first post on Steem. I had lot of fun with it during FIFA World Cup.

Not my cup of tea, but Byteball also has privacy coins built in and can be send over any e2ee messenger and they are not even stored on public ledger, so if you have them, but only backed up seed words (didn't do full backup) and loose access to your wallet then they are forever gone because they were stored only on your device.

Everybody is distracted about the rewards, but one of the many use cases for Byteball to do the Steem attestations is to make it possible to send Bytes to steem/username address, without the need to know their Byteball address. This feature will be there even if the distribution fund ever runs out.

Oh wow thanks for the detailed explaination makes a lot more sense now and I can see the project has some merits going for it, I’ll be interested in how this capacity type transaction will be applied to more micro transactions and micropayment uses!

Appreciate the knowldge bomb dropped you a follow so I can stay in the loop

There are multiple IoT projects for Byteball already in works and soon to be released, one of the features that was released just days before Steem airdrop was added to support these upcoming projects.

The main functionality right now is the conditional payments with smart-contracts and the Bot Store that let's other developers extend the wallet. Even betting started with simple Sports Oracle bot, but then got extended by other developer as Betting Bot to make it easier for people to find other counterparties for the bets.
