We will be excluding spam users and blacklisting certain tags — you can read about our approach here: https://steemit.com/steem/@steemsmarter/steemsmarter-disclaimer

If you know of any spam users/tags please let us know!

that's great - spam is the biggest threat to steemit. I've seen a quite a few people simply copying whole articles from elsewhere and posting here and others upvoting. We need a way to raise awareness about this and get users to do a quick sense check before giving others a vote.

I guess those moving from old social media networks didn't have to think to much about their "likes" as they didn't really have much effect.

There are plagiarism bots out there, but what would be cool is something built into a Steem explorer. #frontofmind

Not a techie, so I am not exactly sure what you mean.

But I guess a standard check built into the steemit blockchain before each post goes live would be great (if that's what you mean?)

Hopefully as the steemit ecosystem becomes stronger, we can reinvest more of the funds into the development.
