Writing a real letter is the way to go. I always do the same.
One suggestion, address the letter to the CEO, both the letter greeting and the envelope. If you send t to "coinbase" it will be read by a low level HR person and probably (honestly) thrown away. Address it to the CEO tho and there is a chance it may be read. At the least you may get past HR and reach his secretary or an intern.
