If you're in the crypto world long enough, you've probably heard the expression "to the moon!". Or, in other contexts, "mooning", as a way to describe the aggressive bull trend of a coin.
But how much it will take to a coin, in our case STEEM, to actually reach the Moon? And how can we find a way to calculate this? What exactly means to go to the Moon?
What Means To Reach The Moon
So, as a nice exercise in the second day of the year, I did some research.
Looks like the distance to the Moon is exactly 384,400 km. A lot, right?
So, what if 1 km would be equal 1 cent? Just so, you know, to have something to compare with.
In this case, I think we can acknowledge STEEM as being on the Moon if the total value of STEEM is 1 cent x 384,400 km, right.
384,400 x 0.01 = 3,844 USD. <- Moon stage
That's the Moon stage of STEEM. Of course, after the Moon comes Mercury, Venus and so on and so forth. But let's stop to the Moon for now.
Houston, We Have Ignition!
I know that seeing STEEM at 3,844 USD seems outrageous now. But just remember that we are trading Bitcoin for $13,000. So, as outrageous as it may be, it's not at all improbable.
As a matter of fact, it's quite plausible, and I'l show you why.
Last year, on January 1st, STEEM was trading at $0.16, or 16 cents. Right now it trades for $6. In one year, STEEM grew 37.5 times.
Now, for STEEM to go from $6 to $3,844, it will need to grow 640 times. Approximately.
Bear with me, please, I'm heading somewhere with these numbers, so if you feel dizzy, just take a breath, a sip of coffee and come back when you're not hyperventilating anymore.
Ok.
Suppose STEEM keeps the same appreciation pattern for this year. Meaning it will appreciate 37.5 times. That means that on January 1st 2019, it will trade for $225.
And if it keeps the same, pace, on January 1st 2020, it will trade for, wait for it, wait for it, breathe.... $8,437!
So, somewhere in between 2018 and 2019, if we keep the same pace, STEEM will reach the Moon.
I'll leave the Mercury calculations, as an exercise, to the more astute of you.

Yes the exponential function has interesting properties, as my account increase by 92 steem per month I will be millionaire in 2019, billionaire in 2020 and trillionaire in 2022, but you will still be richer than me ! The worldwide population is also increasing on an exponential way and it is less funny.

It would be amazing if that actually happened,but i don't think that's how things work in the crypto world.Not trying to be a pessimist and for sure don't consider myself a crypto expert.But the thing I have learned so far from the crypto world is that all the crypto coins are highly unpredictable and they should not be examinated in a linear type of growth.

Since the distance between mercury and earth is 77 million kilometers, Steem will get to mercury at $770,000. So if it increases by X35 per annum in a compounded way, and taking my calculation from year 2020. It will get mercury before 2022, that is for years from now.
