RE: Brief Poll about Silver ... Bars or Coins?

in #steem8 years ago

I am like you, I like to buy a little of everything. I have rare Coca Cola bars that are worth much more money due to their rarity. Some collector coins gather a heavier premium such as any of the Perth Series. I also like the older collector bars from some of the old mints like Franklin or Lincoln. They don't make these anymore and I feel with time they will be rare. Of course, some Morgans are also a welcomed addition to my stack. :)

Sounds like a nice collection. I'll have to do some research on the old mints. I bet those would be cool to have. I like the Perth ones as well, there are some really beautiful designs that they put out. When I get bored with the eagles, usually see what's up at Perth lol...

Many of the old mint bars are actually made out of sterling. So it is not fully .999 but .925. Many of them are beautifully made. You can find them perhaps at your local dealer, if they have them. You can find them on Ebay, but they come with a small premium. I also like coins with their certificates of proof of authenticity. They usually tell you how many were made in circulation. The smaller the number, the more I feel they will be worth with time. I have been bored with eagles for a long time. Canadian money is much more interesting. :)

I'll agree with you re: Canadian. I've just gotten the 2nd coin in the 4 coin predator series. They did a beautiful job on the first one, the puma. One of my favorite places to purchase is Provident Metals in TX. Their own coins are fairly unique and they make them from recycled silver. Of course they have others as well, but pretty decent pricing. I like their 2 ounce coins, more 3D type of engraving. POA's a really nice too for resale I think some day.

Interesting, I just picked up 20 owl birds of prey series. I must say they are stunning and would definitely get more. I picked them up for a nice price at JM bullion.
