@dragosroua is doing a challenge for the month of May. He is giving one thing to post about everyday for the whole month. I missed the first day and I am sure I will miss other days unfortunately. I like the challenge and that it gives every something to make a worthy post about.
In Dragosroua's post he said he would keep and power up 50%, he would power up an additional 35% and delegate it to worthy causes. The other 15% he would trade for other tokens. That is a fair and commendable thing to do I would say.
What would I do if I woke up and I was gifted 1000 Steem?
I would make a small idea I had the other day come to life. People who know me in real life know that I am very giving. Even people who have known me here for a while know that I am very giving. I have given away SBD, I have paid to have a free little library built, and I have paid people SBD's to donate books to their local little free libraries. I wish I could do more of course, and if I had a bonus 1000 Steem I could spend without being negatively affected by losing it at all.
So I would take 400 Steem and I would give it away to everyone who participated in an imaginary challenge I hosted. A decentralized, open source stress test on the Steem blockchain. I want to propose one day where I can give away this steem to people who make posts, comments, and transfers on a certain day. I was inspired to try this when thinking about blocktivity's chart showing only a fraction of a percent of the Steem blockchain utilized. I feel like if we as a community had a day where we tried to make as many transactions in a day, It would be awesome to watch and it would show the capability of the Steem blockchain to more future investors and users. We would need to make a substantial amount of transactions to make other people in the crypto space take notice and realize. My goal would be to hit 5 million transactions over a 24 hour period compared to the current record of just over 2 million. With 400 Steem to give away I would be much more capable of doing this. Without it I would need a big group of influential Steem users to help get people to take part in it. Which I am more than likely incapable of rounding up.
I would spend another 200 Steem on hosting some charitable challenges or donating it for others to host the charitable challenges. @inphiknit was doing charity for steem posts when I first came and I really like the concept of being able to help the less fortunate and to possibly be rewarded for it, for doing the right thing anyway.
I would take another 200 Steem and offer it to my friends on other social media sites and in real life. I would divide it between whoever I talked into joining.
That leaves 200 Steem still. I guess with that I would utilize the more legit bidbots. I would upvote other peoples posts into the hot page. To help get some unestablished authors more views when they deserve it. I would upvote posts that encourage discussion, because good comments, and good discussion are one thing that is hard to find on Steem. Luckily I have found a good group of people on here, my tribe.. who enjoy the conversations we have, or they keep having them anyways!
What would you do if you were gifted 1000 Steem? Take part in @dragosroua's challenge by checking his blog and finding the post regarding the rules, then instead of commenting here make your own post and share it on his post on the same subject for the day. If you don't want to take part in the challenge, feel free to share what you would do below!
Woot woot,
I wish you a happy day and a better life
Hope that helps a little. Terrible times gd damn communist bastards did this to u! Why aren’t you people rebelling on mass!
I wish you a happy day and a better life
I help admin Citizens Action Network on Facebook and we have 50 state pages, several country pages and numerous "special interest" pages, but we don't have a Venezuela CAN page and I would like to make one if you wanted to help admin the page? Its a lot of money, but I have 2400 Steem and I feel like I have VERY little influence as it is. I was delegated @dhouse 2000 STEEM for a week and it was a beautiful sentiment; but again I don't think the level of engagement increased. Perhaps I just dont have the experience in crypto land to really actualize it. Sorry I didn't add ..
Maybe it's just me ;(
Ya, I have 6k and I feel the same way lol.. that's why opposed to powering it up to upvote people a little more. I would instead use bidbots to really get the exposure, new followers and engagement. Because as you say. Delegating sp isn't as impactful as it would sometimes seem.
bid bots are a money losing game these days. I rarely use them and no point in burning SBD/STEEM if you are looking to add. Most don’t even have a cap for negative ROI..it would be smarter to just make your own
bidbot lol
Ehh well timed exposure from a new account can do good things. The other day I resteemed a post by a new user. My vote took him from 25 rep to 28, then a lot of people who follow me commented and upvoted and he ended with at least 10 more rep than he started with, and a decent payout on his post. That is not bid bots, but if the content is worthy they have the same effect. And of course if I spent money on a bid bot to upvote someone else's post, I would probably resteem it too..
I agree that bid bots are money losing now, and more about promotion like they probably should be. I think they can help new users, who are making quality content though.
I wish you a happy day and a better life
Sounds like good stuff to do with 1,000 STEEM to me. Especially since you've already been thinking about things you would do if you had the STEEM. I guess I haven't got that far in the process yet.
It would be awesome to actually see these transactions going onto the blockchain. Do we all go to a witness server to what this, or is the another way? You mentioned blocktivity. Is that how?
Anyway, great post. Thanks for sharing what you would do, and I'm looking forward to one day seeing you do it. :)
It would be awesome to magically have Steem I had not already intended to have. I have a personal goal of hitting 10k steem so I won't power down or give any of the Steem I currently have away. But if I were to be given, so too I could give.
And blocktivity is a website that shows each blockchain and their transaction in the last 24 hours, as well as their all time record. Steem is always the most used, it also holds the current all time record at over 2 million transactions in 24 hours. The blockchain wasnt near peak capacity. So if one day we could all just post lots, comment lots, and send lots of micro transactions around to each other. We could put up a number that would be really hard to beat.
Hopefully one day I get the opportunity to. If Steem goes up it would take less for me to be able to do it and since I am fortunate enough to make a little from my posts, it could be achievable since i could use less Steem and reward just as much money.
I was actually encouraged after seeing your post on the same subject. I didn't go into the getting 10k , 100k, and the million though lol! Thanks for being on this website and sharing your thoughts yo, you are appreciated!
I'm afraid I wasn't nearly as generous in my thinking from the get go. Depending on where you live and what you've earned, I suppose, 1,000 STEEM could sound like a lot. I used to think that about $2,000 USD a month, until I was trying to live on it in Southern California. It turned out that it didn't go very far.
But in STEEM's case, 1,000 can equal $1,500 USD like it did recently, or it could equal $3,950 like it does now, or it could be $1 million dollars by simply doing what Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash have done.
So, keeping as much of it as possible in and around the blockchain sounds like a good idea to me. So does setting the all time 24 hour record for number of transactions. :)
You just can't find conversations like this one on the other platforms. Thanks to both of you. I appreciate finding and reading conversations like this one. I am also learning more about Steem.
I would sell it because this entire platform is dead. Looks at what you are earning and the amount of time you spend on here writing article, commenting, voting. You're earning $12 per article... Ridiculous. All the money is being siphoned off by a dozen whales that upvote themselves and steal all the reward money.
Why do you even bother?
Well this is not entirely true, but it is to a point.. the whales are definitely taking the whales share. If this article makes 12$ I actually make closer to 20$ at today's market rate. if Steem ever goes to 6$ again I am making much more, probably closer to 50$. If it goes to zero than I am making nowhere near 12$..
12$ is ironically infinitely more than I have made on Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, and Instagram combined. So wasting time is relative.
I actually woke up to 20,000.000 in Delegated Steem Power... My up-votes were up to over $8.00... I was in the process of up-voting 10 people with 100% up-votes, when everything came to an end... The Delegation must have been a mistake, and it was taken away... I didn't up-vote any of my own posts... lol... By the way, I refuse to pay Bid Bots to up-vote any of my posts...
Hey @drpuffnstuff! If I woke up to find 1000STEEM in my account, I would put it into the Steem Church project that is currently being promoted by @sirknight, and help feed the world. Hope you're well dude!
I seen your name as a sponsor on @SydesJokes Famous Daily Faucet and I decided to follow you and maybe upvote a post or two of yours. I have found most people who are involved in the cryptocurrency community like to share their good fortune and their knowledge. I am not really a content creator and I am still working on my Intro to the Steemit community, since July of 2017 and I have not made an official post yet. I have similar feelings about the use of bots and now we have "BOT Cops" and there are real people who downvote posts for breaking the rules. I think what @dragosroua is doing is a great idea and proves what I said about the people in the crypto community. It is also a great way to get people to participate. I am also a regular sponsor for SydesJokes Famous Daily Faucet because I like what Colin or SydesJokes does to promote the communities he is involved in, especially the @Kryptonia and @SuperiorCoin communities and he likes to give back. I really like what you would do with 1000 SBD if it just happened into your wallet and hopefully you will win this 30 day challenge so you can give more back. I shared this meme on the daily faucet today
If more people would just do that what is right the world would be a better place. Here is another meme that I like to use
Thanks for being a sponsor of the daily faucet and for doing that what is right.
I am very looking at it, hopefully you get 1000 steam, I always support you. because after I read your post, it turns out you're a good person, like to share. I love the way you are friends :)
I support your choice to use bid bots to gain exposure . Delegated steempower can be abused. The beneficiary can use it to Upvote that which may not be considered quality contents . But then what do I know?
I can see you're basically giving out the remaining $800. That's really commendable
In that scenario I am still giving it out because I wouldn't pay bidbots to upvote my own posts. I would upvote other people's posts. I wouldn't bother keeping any of it if it was all just given to me in the first place.
The Steem I have is Steem I have warned so I can't really give away any like that, it would be nice to though.
