STEEM Prices Falling!! Don't Worry!! BTC/USD Comparison

Steem / BTC

Looking at the price of steem for the past several days/weeks has made some people worry. Some are wondering if they should sell and move to other cryptocurrencies.
I can't tell anyone what to do, but if I was you, I would be a little more patient. Steemit is relatively new and it will take some time for more folks to join. Its still on beta
To some people it might even be a great time to buy Steem as the possible investment reward could be great.

Bitcoin / USD

Remember hearing about bitcoin a few years ago?
If you do, wouldn't it be great if you could've gotten your hands on some bitcoins?
I personally think that Steem has the same potential to grow as Bitcoin.
Here is the value of Bitcoin/USD over the years until now.

Patience

All I can say to those of you that are eager and worried about the price of steem is: patience young steemian patience.
Meanwhile all we can do is work to make Steemit a good and welcoming community to those new folks joining.
Steem ON!!!

What will the site looks like when it's out of beta ? Afaik there is no roadmap so Im not sure why everyone are excited about going out of beta.

I do not know what it will look like when it is out of beta, but I am hoping it doesn't mess with too many rules and instead lets communities form their own rules of governance along with their own steem-backed front end.

I already am in talks with people in our community who have done guild management type things in the past and we all seem to agree the way forward is to let communities form and manage themselves by having their own front end website/forums but that have steem blockchain in the background (so upvotes will still pay).

I am not sure how much you have read about steem on here but I assure you if you dig you can see lots of cool stuff going on here already. :)

What is there NOT to be excited about? The not knowing what it will look like, or what it will be like, is the biggest ingredient to my excitement - the fact that we can only speculate on the many mysteries surrounding the direction(s) that Steem/ Steemit can go.

Dan made it clear that "social media" was a Trojan Horse to build a currency and user base... to support more valuable things like markets, oracles, data, etc. That's why I'm hanging in.

This is actually a good reason for steemit.com to stay in beta forever.

What will it look like?
I would assume that it will still be really similar to what steemit currently looks like.
No roadmaps? well guess why?
There are no other websites like steemit currently out there. It will take some time to work out some of the wrinkles here and there and at the end, I hope its a site that attracts many more users.
@snowflake at least you are still here on steemit and haven't left (:

There is a lot of development using the steem blockchain but how do you know if steemit.com will ever get out of beta? I guess that's the question I wanted to ask.

We really don't know. Could be next week and it can also be next month or even next year.
For all we know, WWIII can start tomorrow and no more steemit.
The point that I'm trying to make is that, you don't always know how life will turn out. That is also part of the beauty.
That is also why I made this post. When people start speculating (prematurly) on how the site will be or what it isn't now, the price of steem will be affected. Mostly everything in the markets is speculation. Like I said, all most people can do is be patient.
Nothing in life is guaranteed

Which is why your point that we are still in beta is moot :)

Though I understand people wanting a roadmap, they have to realize that even billion dollar companies do not give a development roadmaps publicly. Why? Because that kind of stuff is the kind of stuff competitors will use to try to get an edge on you. In blockchain space, where there are plenty of people smart enough to clone things, I would personally say I am kind of glad they are working on their roadmap behind the scenes. :)

Yes, there's a good chance that Steem paves out a similar path to bitcoin's price and the current price is a good candidate (from a technical-analysis perspective) to start the move up that bitcoin has been involved in since it ranged between about $200 and $300.

I go into detail about why this might be the price where Steem reverses out of its current bear-market right here in this post.

Very interesting post @jamesbrown

Hehe, almost exactly what I said in another post earlier too!

Great minds think alike. ;)

I think the most important thing about something brand new like this is that even at a lower value it is still exchanged for something else. Patience is a great thing with regards to potential personal gain, but if all those with Steem were to stop using it, the value would drop further.

So keep using the Steem that you do have, but maybe hold on to a little bit more than before :)

Yeah, I wonder how many people bailed out of BTC when it went from $31 to $2!

I would hate to be this guy

No doubt! That story is legendary!
