Conception of Vapor
As you may remember from my previous posts and my participation in a WhaleTank hangout, I've been planning this and developing this alongside my partner @bluemux. This came into my mind when I came across several payment processors in the Philippines, and I thought of emphasizing the payments use-case of Steem, most especially due to its 0 transaction fees and fast block-timing. After consulting several steem community bigshots, code documentation and @bluemux, we moved from v0.1 to v0.2 in a span of 2 weeks and are now already moving towards a working application.
What is Vapor?
- Vapor is a mobile Steem/SBD POS (Point-of-Sale) to cater to merchants through both online and brick-and-mortar shops
- Vapor is a mobile Steem/SBD wallet made with user experience in mind
- Vapor is a proof of concept for a mobile multi-cryptocurrency merchant wallet
- Vapor is a revival and modification of the old SteemPay web app
Goals
We want Vapor to not only be a reliable service, but also as a testing ground for several features for our upcoming mobile app that will work through the Bitshares blockchain. We want to develop our application as user-friendly as possible to cater to non tech-savvy users, but at the same time as functional as an interface to the blockchain can be.
About
The Philippines is a third-world country with a large chunk of the population being unbanked, however 90% of the country has a smart-phone capable of apps. We want to take advantage of this by capitalizing on the revolution on technology and spearhead financial tech in the Philippines by providing low merchant fees and no transaction fees made possible by the Steem Blockchain.
At the moment our founding and working team consists of 2, me, @emerge, and @bluemux. Both my partner and I have technical backgrounds in the Philippines are deeply rooted in the startup industry in the country. Soon, during the later phase of the project(s), we will be on-boarding serial entrepreneur and investor Howie Ross Valino into our team for Business Development and many more to come.

Vapor and Abono
ABONO is a whale token using Bitshares that we will be using for our upcoming Steem account and meant to be used as a rewards token later on in the future through our flagship application Abono. (merchant discounts, gift cards and several other planned rewards through the merchant application)

This is awesome, can't wait to use it. I have a question do, what is the difference between Vapor and Abono?
Vapor is strictly using the Steem blockchain, while Abono will be using the Bitshares blockchain, have loyalty rewards, payment processing for fiat and an improved codebase and UI from Vapor!
Ah ok. Would it be much more difficult to make Abono support STEEM as well?
well, as Steem is part of the Bitshares gateways and exchange, then i would believe that it hopefully isnt that hard

Am I correct it also allows for other currencies as well?
Vapor will only be using STEEM and SBD, however in the future, we will released our flagship app Abono, which will accept most of the popular cryptocurrencies!

Very excited to see Steemit used for general purpose payments. I think that is the main thing that will make Steem rise in value - being used for purposes other than for Steemit.
Also, If cryptocurrencies are to truly take over the world, they have to match Visa at scale. Visa can do 4000 transactions per second. How much can bitcoin do? 28. It's not even a close competition. Which is why, either a) BTC must increase it's capability to support multiple thousand transactions per second OR b) Something that can already do that, like Steem or ETH must become more mainstream than BTC.

STOPYour post says this will work through the BitShares blockchain and yet you mention that its all about Steem. Are you doing both? Please clarify. Either way, your plan is awesome, as this is much needed, but in voting for this, I'd primarily like to see this for Steem given our huge and growing user base in that part of the world.
Vapor will be working soley on the STEEM blockchain, however we're developing our flagship app which will work similarly to Vapor which will work on the Bitshares Blockchain!
