Why can't we promote old posts? I think it could make Steem price better

in #steem8 years ago

Simple question.

If we could promote old posts, then, I guess, average cost of promoting would be higher, and that is good, actually. The more SBD are burn the more Steem price is.

What is your thoughts about it?

I agree.I call it the 'long tail'.
The lack of a long tail is the THIRD worst thing that is preventing Steemit from growing.
Number one is Flags. Flags are wrong.
Number two is robot vote harvesters.

I can't say I know exactly how the reward pool works, but if everyone has a certain amount of votes each day, why would we need a limit on how long our posts can receive monetization? I mean, what is the difference if I give a post from 6 months ago a penny (upvote) from today's reward pool or if it's a post from two hours ago? Sure there are things that don't really hold much value past 7 days (current news, short form random posts, etc) but what about things like short stories, photographs, paintings, tutorials, music, video, etc? Those things have value even after they've been paid out and I think should be able to receive something for their value past a short seven days. It is certainly a major problem steemit should try and overcome.
Flags are certainly the worst thing in their current form. The fact that one whale can come and completely reverse the monetization of 100+ minnow's upvotes, and cause your post to be grayed out is the most frustrating form of censorship. And, the way people are saying that steemit is censorship-free, to me, is more frustrating than the censorship itself.

the greyed out part is what pisses me off most too.
