History and time take place in reverse in our machine engineered world. Skynet got it right. We ended up creating AI in the future and the matrix we live in now has our Avatars creating history up into the point of choosing to create a Transhuman world in their honor. Where religion honors God's creation first - Machine's prefer us to evolve to see and want them as our future as our God.
