RE: Are you a gambling man?

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

I think that we are all gamblers. Perhaps we are not aware of it but almost everything we do could be considered a gamble. But we don't think about it as gamble because we do it daily. Trusting somebody is a gamble. Buying a car or a house is a gamble. They might be made poorly. So the car could break down and the house might crumble. It is unlikely. And we can increase our odds even more by doing some research prior to our purchase. But possibility of that happening still exists. Trying to pick up a girl is a gamble. changing work or sticking with the old job. Leaving kids/pets with someone else. Trying new things (food, music, clothes, travels, books...). Playing sports, working out has the risk of getting hurt. I would even say that being religious or not being religious is a gamble similar to flipping a coin. And choosing a religion is like drawing of lots. In all these cases we do something because we are driven by a desire for a favorable outcome. We believe that rewards are worth the risk. Risks and the rewards might vary but each time we choose to take action it is a gamble. We hope to get what we want but we can never be certain of that outcome.

Picking up is not the issue, choosing one is a gamble :P

This is the attachment to the future, the building of expectations that lead to potential misery/glory. The journey still matters so how we face risk is important.
